Shelf: Dark Fantasy Shelf
Rating: ★★★★★
Finished: 11/8/12

This was a re-read for me, which I usually try to stay away from for Bingo, but I am dying to read Iced and refuse to read it until I re-read the Fever series. This is one of my favorite series. I love Barrons so much. I think I could read a book of him just walking around doing chores and errands...especially if he wasn't wearing a shirt...or hell anything at all. lol

Witch Fire
Dark Fantasy Shelf
06 November 2012
★★★

Lots of sex in this one. It almost became too much. I'm far from being a prude, but I actually found myself skipping over some of the sex scenes. The characters were okay. The writing wasn't too bad and the story was average. All that together makes for a book that I could do with or without.

In a nutshell, Mira doesn't know she's a witch. Jack is sent to watch over her. There is a huge attraction between them. He fights it because he thinks things would be better if they weren't involved. Of course, they can't stay away from each other and during all of this they are fighting the bad guys.

The book didn't excite me enough to read anymore in the series. Ho Hum...not terribly impressed.

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Our next shelf is up ~ '2012' ~ This is a Goodreads shelf, not a personal shelf. Some books shelved there will be those released in 2012, some read in 2012, etc.

This will give us yet another 3 in a row. lol

We meet Magiere and Leesil as they pull a con on villagers with fake vampire hunting. The fakery becomes all too real and the pair need to fight to maintain their new home and maybe make up a little for the games they've pulled over the years.

I loved this new world. I liked the two main characters. I was intrigued by the hints of a much bigger and far reaching story going on. But the book ultimately left me a little unsatisfied. I think was due to the unexplained relationship between the main characters. I knew it was there, but the author just glossed over it.
I would have loved to give this a 4, but the relationship issue took it down to 3, but it didn't stop me immediately picking up the next book. Which is definitely a 4 :o)

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments First off let me just say that this week has just sucked all the way around...Mon I crashed my car when a 180 pound doe decided to be suicidal & plowed into my Charger so after $7000.00 worth of damage I will hopefully have my baby back on Fri...if that wasnt enough to complicate my life - the powers who wish they were in charge - meaning the "*itches" who call themselves my supervisors bosses etc came down really hard on my dept @ the hospital where I work so now I am unable to listen to my ipod @ work.... - we are not even able to converse on a personal basis unless it is during a break or lunch...that being said my reading time is very limited now - so I have been trying to finish up with what I had going on so here are my reviews....
Blameless, gail carriger was for my "Favorite series" 4*s...I loved it - this has been the best series I have read in awhile. I love Alexia & yes I think Connall is a buffoon. Next up was Changes by Jim Butcher...4*s...this was for the "Dark Fantasy" shelf - I absolutely love Harry Dresden if you have not read any of this series or the Steampunk by gail carriger definitely worth looking into...now I am off to find a book for the 2012 shelf....

Sallie(GeorgiaGirl) (shuga) | 1143 comments For the 2012 shelf: I am picking The Night Circus erin morgenstern

Thanks for getting your reviews in, although we all would have understood if you waited to get those in. Could you do me one favor though and just add what date you finished those in your review when you get the chance? Thanks!

I'm hoping so too. 2012 is almost over. I hope the rest of it goes well and that 2013 is ten times better.

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments So there is a 73% chance that next week's shelf that gets called will be a winner.
Ghosts, New2You Author, Angels, and Paranormal Romance are the non-winning shelves.

Ghosts and Paranormal Romance are ones we want since those are in row B for us where we will have 3 in a row (once we get demons stamped). And we are the only team that they would be super helpful for. Cross your fingers ladies!

Paris (pah13) | 1183 comments Time Mends (Timber Wolves Trilogy, #2) by Tammy Blackwell
Shelf: 2012
Finished: 11/10/12
Rating: ★★★★★

Review:
I was so torn throughout Destiny Binds. I loved Alex and Charlie and didn’t know how Scout could choose between them. I had a feeling that after the end of the first book that Time Mends would explore the other side of the coin. Even given how things went down. I was both sad and pleasantly surprised that the situation I envisioned wasn’t even a possibility. While I had loved the idea in book one, it no longer felt right in book two. (Wow could I be any more vague? Lol)

I was blown away by book two. I never saw any of it coming and enjoyed every minute of the continued roller coaster ride. While book one dealt with growing up and falling in love, book two showed Scout’s continued growth and also her dealing with an absolutely crazy change in her world.

When I finished Time Mends, I was actually glad that I had sat on the first two books for months. I would have had a difficult time dealing with life if I had had to wait to read the final book in the series.

And once again I was not disappointed by the witty banter and pop culture references. I freaking love Tammy Blackwell’s writing style. One of my favorite interactions in this book:

“How are you feeling?" Charlie asked, adding a small bottle of V-8 juice to the bedside table.
"Like I just sat through an entire Justin Bieber concert."
"Headache and nausea?
"And an overwhelming desire to die.”

Jenni, that series is amazing. There are so many laugh out loud moments and the banter is great. I highly 1000% recommend it. For $7 (maybe less, maybe a little more depending on the taxes where you are) you can get 3 amazing books (on Kindle). Can't really do beat that.

Oh and no worries about your review. Get it up when you can. I read my book and wrote my review days ago just hadn't had a chance to post until today.

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) | 2441 comments The Iron King (The Iron Fey, #1) by Julie Kagawa

Shelf: 2012
Rating: ★★★
Finished: 14.11.2012.

Julie Kagawa's style of writing is very easy to read. It's light, and breezy with right amount of descriptions, inner monologue, dialog and action to make it just right. It's surprisingly good for a first novel.
The world of Fey Julie Kagawa created, takes ideas from several different books and sources. But, Julie Kagawa managed to add her touch to these characters, transfer them to urban setting and make them unique and original.

So why the low rating? Because 'The Iron King' represent all of the most popular (and most used) tropes in YA books.
Story is told from first person point of view by Megan Chase. Her father is missing since she was a kid and she is neglected by her mother and stepfather. But then she discovers magical world and creatures living in our world that other humans can't see. I will not list any more cliches she represents because they would be spoilers, but there are many many more.

Been reading The Morganville Vampire Series for a while now and honestly I just love the books. The story lines are never dull and I love the characters.

This book starts right up from where the last book left off. The is a new big bad in town and the crew must get ready to fight for their lives and also to protect the vampires.

Great story, felt some flutters of angst worrying over the future of some of the characters will they live, will they stay together and what does the future hold.

Looking forward to the next installment.

Picking Moon Spell (The Tale of Lunarmorte, #1) by Samantha Young for my shifter shelf

Caia is an orphan that has been in hiding with her guardian for 10 years. It's now time to return to the pack. The hunter who killed her parents is dead and she should be safe.

I really really enjoyed this book. If it wasn't such a quick easy read then it would probably have been a 5 for me.
Great plot, lots of hidden truths, new world with a mention of God like Athena and Aries and some romance.
Immediately went and got next two books in trilogy.
