What chapters do I have in my pockets?
The Hobbit done (Or at least another version done - it's still showing up on the original list as NOT struck through)
Clockwork Prince is done
The edition The Host that is listed on page 1 appears to have had chapter data added. It needs to be overstruck on the list
The Perks of Being a Wallflower (my copy is 213 pages) is a collection of letters rather than chapters. It's organized as follows:
Part 1
10 letters dated 8/25/1991 through 10/28/1991
Part 2
15 letters dated 11/7/1992 through 1/1/1992
Part 3
12 letters dated 1/4/1992 through 4/26/1992
Part 4
14 letters dated 4/29/1992 through 6/22/1992
Part 5 (epilogue)
1 letter dated 8/23/1992
How should the chapter data be entered in this case?

On the Perks of Being a Wallflower question...if each letter is its own chapter, I'd probably say they should be Part 1: [Date of the letter], etc. Would that make sense?

When do you think this will be open to more books?

Probably not in the near term. We're going to look at the data everyone has entered for this list and do some internal tinkering before we ask anyone to enter metadata for anymore books.

Thanks for the update!
Sadly, I'm not hip to the most popular books so I'm no help here.

How about the classics? I still see a few on the list but the editions that I have are not the default ones. For Jane Austen, if you have one of the right editions its simply a matter of inputting the number of chapters in the book and adding the page that each chapter stated on.

All of the editions I own have been done already. The ones that haven't been done? I don't own.
It's a catch-22, lol.

Ha! Found 1 that I could do.
But, I only have the ebook edition. I know that the preferred edition is the primary (HB in this case). In trying to do the ebook, it asks me for page numbers.
I am hesitant to add this information because page numbers are somewhat fluid on ebooks (depending on the reader in question). My edition of this book shows 554 pages while GR lists the edition as having 267 pages.
Do you have any suggestions?

Given your situation, I'm wondering if it's worth your time at present.
I'm curious to see how the data we enter will be used. I've added chapter data to a few discussion topics about books where the chapters existed and a few quotes I think. As yet I've not seen anywhere where the data appears even after entry.

Maybe you're right. I'm not sure how GR wants to handle something like that...

Just edited the last chapter to say Chapter Twenty-Five rather than 25. :)

Problem solved. (although I had to add a new chapter and delete the one listed as 25)

Thought that might be the case. Thanks!

UPDATE: I got through, thanks.
"The Omnivore's Dilemma" is done.

non-default edition of Pride & Prejudice also done (ISBN-10: 1-59308-201-0)

Not sure if that's a problem... thought I'd mention it. Some examples:
A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3)
A Dance with Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5)
The Girl Who Played With Fire
One assumes that the TOP item listed in the "add book/author" pop-up that one gets at the top of the discussion input box is the default in these cases.

That's because the URLs on that post are broken. If you look at the link, you can see that it's putting the URL of the book after /topic/show/. If you click the link, and then delete everything in URL before the second www you'll get the right page.
I have Dracula and would be happy to add in information for that book, but I have an edition that is different than the default edition. I could just add in the information for my edition, but I can't find it. Because I don't want to accidentally add in a duplicate, does anyone here happen to know or is able to find the Wordsworth edition with original publishing 1993 and introduction and notes added in 2000? It is the one with the castle on the front cover, not the newer one with Dracula (?) on the front. If it's not already here, I can add it and either way I can enter the chapter information and metadata for it.

It kept saying it had a problem saving it but must have done it because now each chapter shows up 4 times. Couldn't edit them out because they only show up once in the list.

I was able to go in and delete the extra chapters for you

Any chance you could fix the broken links as well? TIA HAND ;-)

Thanks

The prologue starts on page ix, which was not accepted as a page number. I set it to 0 so I could save the page. I can't recall if this has been discussed or not; did I deal with that correctly?

But the link to A Storm of Swords (A Song of Ice and Fire, #3) is not working.

- Pride and Prejudice (ISBN: 0141439513)
- Wuthering Heights (ISBN: 0007326742)
- Dracula (ISBN: 1593081146)

oops, seen this after doing Pride and Prejudice default edition

- Using the edit book link, access the book edit form. Use the edit chapters link to access the chapter edit page.
- If the book does not have any chapter data yet, you will be prompted to specify the number of chapters in the book. Please include all chapters, including introductions, epilogues, etc.
- This will take you to a second form, where you can edit each chapter's name and location (either a page number or percentage). Both of these must be provided for each chapter.
- If the form asks for chapter locations as a percentage, this lacks a page count. If this information is available, please go back & provide this information before continuing. The notable exception is the Kindle edition, which often will not have a page count.
Please don't do this for every edition. For now, just focus on the default edition of each book. If the default edition is audio, please use the most popular print edition in its place.

I'm also reading the thread more closely, I don't think they're are any books I own left to add this information :-/

by Christine Davenne, Christine Fleurent
Please correct the referenced book, which is listed as Cabinets of Curiosities, but as you will see when you go to its page and see the book cover, it's actually Cabinets of Wonder.

Maybe just a glitch and I can try again later.

Bookworm, as a reader, I have noted that all Kindle books record in % read and not number of pages read, whereas ebooks record in pages.

Bea, I am aware of that, I did enter the correct %'s as shown from my Kindle for each chapter. But after the save all my numbers changed to the same incorrect percent number. I wasn't thinking and didn't write it down before deleting. It was similar to 27638.6% for all chapters.
