I am currently reading my first book for the challenge:
Both Ways is the Only Way I Want it. A collection of short stories by Mailie Meloy, an author I have never read before. I am about 3/4 done with the book :-) Then I plan to start Odd Apocalypse.
Both Ways is the Only Way I Want It by Maile Meloy

message 54: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 140 comments I haven't read Odd yet either. Isn't there a ghost in it though?

I'm guessing there's more than one :-)

message 56: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 140 comments Cool, that will work for the challenge then. I knew I was saving that book for some reason.

Odd Apocalypse also has a yellow/orange cover :-)

message 58: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 140 comments Yes it does. You are most observant Dustin

message 59: by Josh (new)

Josh Barnett (joshyboy98311) | 366 comments Yes, yes it does Dustin! I am going to count Odd Apocalypse as the orange and yellow goal.
1) The Gunslinger By Stephen King (If I decide to do this one)
2) As of right now, I dont have anything for this but I'd rather read a poetry book instead of a book with POET on it.
3) Procession of the Dead by Darren Shan (After Mary Jane possibly... then again I am not sure if it is set in a forgein country but I think it is) Or Zom-B by Darren Shan. (It depends which one I get my hands on first. XD)
4) Odd Interlude by Dean Koontz (Read)
5) If I get around to this one it will be a Star Wars novel most likely
6) Possibly a Dirk Pitt Novel. I might not come to this one.
7) Odd Apocalypse by Dean Koontz (Reading)
8) May Jane by Judith O'Brien (Reading after Odd Apocalypse)

I am doing four for sure! I will fit Tick Tock into this months reading since I already said I am for the Dean Koontz land group read. It will most likely be after Mary Jane since Mary Jane I checked out from the library.

WHAT? You, have never read Tess Gerritsen? My favorite Stand-Alone is The Bone Garden
The Bone Garden by Tess Gerritsen

As a matter of fact, just tonight I bought me a second copy of The Bone Garden when I was at the library picking up Last to Die, because the Bone Garden was sitting on the books for sale shelf and speaking to me.

If you never read Tess Gerritsen before, this would be a perfect time :-) meets challenge requirement

message 87: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments dc

def will read tess at some point- for the challenge considering trying stephen white for the first time

if you had to choose between The Surgeon
and Privileged Information which would you choose?

i know you love both authors so if you like them equally- which is less gory

Priveleged Information is less gory. But if you want to try Stephen White, I would actually recommend either KILL ME or THE SEIGE. Both of these are technically in the Alan Gregory series, but they also are more like Stand-Alone novels and you don't have to have read any of the previous books - they are both very excellent. I would say they are more psychologically disturbing than gory. Kill Me does also happen to have a yellow cover :-) and if you were my neighbor, I'd let you borrow my copy of either book.
Kill Me (Alan Gregory, #14) by Stephen White The Siege (Alan Gregory, #17) by Stephen White

message 89: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments thank you for the recommendations-both books sound very good. so many choices...

i would love for you to be my neighbor, and now the mr roger's song is in my head lol-

message 90: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 3524 comments i'm also thinking of reading Naked in Death- i don't think i've read this author before and one of the characters is a politician.

it's also set in nyc- in the future

message 91: by Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl, Colorful Colorado (new)

Dustin the wind Crazy little brown owl (dustpancrazy) | 2897 comments Mod
No, you should read Stephen White instead of the Naked book :-) and as soon as you move to Colorful Colorado, you can be my neighbor.

The shows and the books are nothing alike in my opinion. The Surgeon is the best in the series I think. It is extremely exciting one of those sitting on the edge of your seat thrillers.

J.S. Bailey (jsbailey) | 130 comments If any of you are into YA fantasy, you might want to check out Orphan of the Shadows: The Light and Dark Chronicles by Abby Ryan. It could meet the read-a-previously-unread-author requirement.

thanks tracy- i'm trying to decide which series i should try next - keep going back and forth between stephen white's series and tess's rizzoli and isles series-i love edge of your seat thrillers so it's a hard call.
