Camilla (cyqua) Since so many people really seem to like the "Reading Habits" thread, I thought it'd be fun with a few new questions along the same lines :-)

It's a bit of mix-and-match from various groups and a few from me.

So:

1. What are you reading now, what was the last book you read and what’s next on your list?

2. Which book is your most anticipated future publication?

3. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read? Just as soon as you finish this one thing you have to do first... :-)

4. What was your favourite book(s) when you where a child?

5. Which book(s) did you hate in school, but later came to realise were perhaps not that bad?

6. Which character in a book would you most like to swap places with?

7. Which author, that you haven’t read anything by before, is at the top of your TBR list?

8. What is your favourite book-to-movie?

9. What’s your favourite quote?

10. Which book does everybody love – but you hate?

11. Which book, that you love, can’t you understand that not everyone has read and loves as much as you do?

12. What was the last book you read into the wee hours of the night because it was THAT good?

13. Which book has changed your life/really moved you/meant something very special to you?

14. Which book would you most like to be able to read for the first time – again?

Have fun! :-)

Camilla (cyqua) Guess I'll kick-start this with some answers :-)

1. What are you reading now, what was the last book you read and what’s next on your list?
I'm currently reading Dead Until Dark, I last finished The Fault in Our Stars and I think I’ll read The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake next

2. Which book is your most anticipated future publication?
The next Dresden Files! I can always read more Harry :-)

3. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read? Just as soon as you finish this one thing you have to do first... :-)?
Oh... have a look at the horror that is my TBR pile/mountain :-) But particularly Jane Eyre which I really want to have read

4. What was your favourite book(s) when you where a child?
Astrid Lindgren’s wonderful The Brothers Lionheart which my grandmother used to read to me. Later, it was the Alanna series and The Eyes of the Dragon

5. Which book(s) did you hate in school, but later came to realise were perhaps not that bad?
I rarely hate books, but I really thought that The Alchemist was stupid when we read it in school – later I’ve come to realise that it’s actually quite lovely :-)

6. Which character in a book would you most like to swap places with?
So many people! But probably Alanna or poor Arthur Dent who had some pretty interesting adventures despite everything!

7. Which author, that you haven’t read anything by before, is at the top of your TBR list?
I’m really looking forward to reading something by China Mieville because I think I’ll really like his books, but there are so many books on the TBR... sigh...

8. What is your favourite book-to-movie?
“Lord of the Rings”! Absolutely nothing better!

9. What’s your favourite quote?
“Paranoid? Probably. But just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't an invisible demon about to eat your face.”
Harry Dresden, Storm Front

“You didn't kill him. He would have killed you, but you didn't kill him."
"So? He was stupid. If I killed everyone who was stupid, I wouldn't have time to sleep.”

Alanna, In the Hand of the Goddess

10. Which book does everybody love – but you hate?
The Stieg Larsson Millenium-trilogi... I actually only read the first two and barely! I generally am not a big crime/thriller fan, and I really didn’t think it was neither exciting nor particularly interesting.

11. Which book, that you love, can’t you understand that not everyone has read and loves as much as you do?
One of my very favourite books is The Darkangel which, granted, is old, but is wonderful and dealt with adventure and vampires and strong/cool female heroes long before anybody even used the term YA :-)
And when people don’t think Sir Pratchett is hilarious and amazing at the same time, I just look at them like they just announced chocolate tastes bad!

12. What was the last book you read into the wee hours of the night because it was THAT good?
Memories of Ice – Steven Erikson has completely won me over! I genuinely now know what it means to be fan-girl :-D

13. Which book has changed your life/really moved you/meant something very special to you?
Several different ones, but I read It when I was 12 myself (like they are in the book) and it was the first really big, grown-up book that I read on my own... I still love it for its wonderful and genuine story of friendship and love (despite the horror)

14. Which book would you most like to be able to read for the first time – again?
Harry Potter!

2. Which book is your most anticipated future publication?

4. What was your favourite book(s) when you where a child? The Secret Garden and Summer of the Monkeys

5. Which book(s) did you hate in school, but later came to realise were perhaps not that bad? The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe

6. Which character in a book would you most like to swap places with? Wendy in the Trylle series

7. Which author, that you haven’t read anything by before, is at the top of your TBR list? Divergent by Veronica Roth

8. What is your favourite book-to-movie? Tie between Harry Potter and Hunger Games

9. What’s your favourite quote? "Scared of You-Know-Who? Then you haven't heard of You-No-Poo, the Constipation Sensation sweeping the nation" - a poster for a Weasley Wizarding Wheazes product.

10. Which book does everybody love – but you hate? City of Bones

11. Which book, that you love, can’t you understand that not everyone has read and loves as much as you do? Switched by Amanda Hocking

message 5: by Kelly (new)

Kelly | 20 comments 1. What are you reading now, what was the last book you read and what’s next on your list? I am in the middle of 2 - Freedom's Sword and Broken Skull Island. Two books I recently picked up during their amazon free days.

2. Which book is your most anticipated future publication? - I just read Nevermore, which was one I had really be anxiously awaiting. I don't really have one that I'm pining away for right now.

3. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read? Just as soon as you finish this one thing you have to do first... :-)I would have said Beautiful Disaster, but I broke down and bought and read it last night since it was our book of the month.

4. What was your favourite book(s) when you where a child? - I liked The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle, The Black Stallion, anything Nancy Drew, Babysitters Club or the Thoroughbred series. I also loved Christy.

5. Which book(s) did you hate in school, but later came to realise were perhaps not that bad? Pretty much the ones I hated in school I still hate. Until recently the only book I'd ever started and not finished was Crime and Punishment. The one and only time I've bought cliff notes. I just could not make it through. But I liked a lot of the other classics I read.

6. Which character in a book would you most like to swap places with? Wow, good question. Umm...Do we get to BE them, or do we only get to see the things they saw. Because like it would be cool to be Hermione but if I didn't have any magic it would kinda suck. Hmm, if we get to be them, Alice from Twilight. If we don't get to be them, only get to see the things they have seen and sort of tag along as ourselves, then Claire from Outlander. She's seen some pretty incredible things.

7. Which author, that you haven’t read anything by before, is at the top of your TBR list? I am going to try one by Amy Garvey soon. - I downloaded her book Cold Kiss and it looks good.

8. What is your favourite book-to-movie? The final Potter.

9. What’s your favourite quote? "These violent delights have violent ends
And in their triumph die, like fire and powder,
Which as they kiss consume." - Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet.

10. Which book does everybody love – but you hate? I usually fall into the other camp. I love books that seem to really polarize people to loving or hating them, and I usually love them. A lot of the True Blood books are ticking me off lately though. Oh and the Vampire Diaries Series. I had to quit reading it.

11. Which book, that you love, can’t you understand that not everyone has read and loves as much as you do? I still love Twilight, and I liked 50shades. Lots of people hate them though. I don't think I'd ever feel that I couldn't understand why others don't. Books are such a subjective thing.

12. What was the last book you read into the wee hours of the night because it was THAT good? I stayed up till 2am last night reading Beautiful Disaster. It was like a train wreck, I just couldn't look away.

13. Which book has changed your life/really moved you/meant something very special to you? Harry Potter - It was the book that introduced me to the Fantasy Genre.

14. Which book would you most like to be able to read for the first time – again? Twilight, because the first time was positively magical.

(And I love your King quote!)

Storm (poefinn) | 39 comments 1. Im reading too far by rich shaprio, im finished recently legend by marie lu and i plan to read the princess bride (im getting the book tommrow)

2. Prodigy, the sequel to legend, i can not wait

3. There are two, the maze runner, and blood red road, i really need to read them.....

4. Milly moll mandy, and the twits by roald dahl (or really anything by roald dahl), the twits will always have a special place in my heart, it was the first book that captivated me, i remember, sitting in the classroom, the teacher holding her signed edtion of the book, reading it out, i will never forget it.

5. I have never hated a book, i wasen’t fond of them when i was little, but i waen’t fond of the actual reading, to this day the only book i haven’t liked is a wizard of earthsea by Ursula le guin, but i am determited to finish it

6. None, two of my favourite books are the fault in our stars and the hunger games, i wouldn’t want to be in they’re predicament, im sure there is one character i would like to be, but i can’t think of it right now

7. Too many to name, im always trying out different authors books,.

8. The hunger games. They managed to keep that magical part that made it so addicting to read in the movie, its one of the few films i have seen that has come that close to the book

9. “without pain, how could we know joy” from the fault in our stars by john green.

10. i guess, a wizard of earthsea, but i don’t really hate it, i can’t count twilight , because i have only seen the movies, so i have no right to jugde the book on that, so i guess a wizard of earthsea

11. the fault in our stars by john green

12. The hunger games trilogy

13. There are four, the fault in our stars, the hunger games, and anything but typical (because i am autistic and i releated to the character so much) and the twits by roald dahl

Jennifer (jennicat) 1. What are you reading now, what was the last book you read and what’s next on your list?
Right now... City of Glass (The Mortal Instruments, #3) by Cassandra Clare
Latest... City of Ashes (if we're going outside the Mortal Instruments series then it would be Pure)
Next... Ceaseless

2. Which book is your most anticipated future publication?
Incendiary

3. Which book do you keep telling yourself you’ll read? Just as soon as you finish this one thing you have to do first... :-)
Persuasion

4. What was your favourite book(s) when you where a child?
Encyclopedia Brown and the Five-Minute Mysteries books.

5. Which book(s) did you hate in school, but later came to realise were perhaps not that bad?
I don't remember hating any books in school. The few I disliked I haven't read since so I haven't given them much of a chance. A Separate Peace and The Return of the Native didn't make enough impact on me to remember them now. Everything else I liked well enough then AND now.

6. Which character in a book would you most like to swap places with?

Elizabeth Bennett in P&P or Katy in Obsidian.

7. Which author, that you haven’t read anything by before, is at the top of your TBR list? Seth Grahame-Smith I guess.

8. What is your favourite book-to-movie? Ugh. The books are always better. I'd have to say the BBC Miniseries of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy.

9. What’s your favourite quote? General quote: "We have enough youth. How about a fountain of smart?" Quote from a book, something from Illusions that I don't have immediately accessible right now. I also like "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." - Dr. Seuss

10. Which book does everybody love – but you hate? I'm not much interested in reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo or The Lovely Bones, but I can't say that I hate them. Yet.

12. What was the last book you read into the wee hours of the night because it was THAT good? that happens a lot... probably Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park

13. Which book has changed your life/really moved you/meant something very special to you? Easy by Tammara Webber

14. Which book would you most like to be able to read for the first time – again? Easy

message 15: by Storm (new)

Storm (poefinn) | 39 comments I think I did this once, but this is so fun :D

1. I’m reading the princess bride, by William Goldman, almost finished, the last one I read was legend by Marie lu, Ghost Girl is next on my list :D

2. Prodigy by Marie lu, the sequel to legend, I can not wait, also, the kill order by James dasher, I haven’t even finished the maze runner but I have this weird obsession where if I have a book series and another book comes out in it, even if I hadn’t finished one in the series XD b

3. The Maze Runner, I started it, and I’ll say, just this one last book, then the maze runner, never happens XD

4. I wasn’t really a big reader until age nine, But I guess anything by Roald Dahl, I think the enormous Crocodile was my favourite, Or maybe the Twits, the Twits actually got me into reading in the first place, when my favourite teacher read her signed edition of the book to the class.

5. I Don’t hate any books, never did, I didn’t like reading books when I was little because I used to hate reading in my head, and loved reading out loud, kind of funny, since now it’s the exact opposite, I love reading in my head, and hate reading out loud, well, not hate, I wouldn’t mind reading Roald Dahl, or kids books to young children, but I don’t like reading my age group books out loud

6. Buttercup from the princess bride, Well not really, but all the other books I like have the characters, dying, having to fight, kill, danger, etc. And So does buttercup, but that’s the only character I can think of XD

7. There are loads, I never really care about who the author is, just as long as the book is, most of the books on my TBR list are probably by author’s I have never heard of or read anything by.

8. The hunger games, They kept to as true to the books as they possibly could of without making the film overly long, a close runner up is, the princess bride, Although I can’t say for sure since its been a while since I have seen the film, and I’m going to Re-watch it soon

9. “without pain, how could we know joy?” (The fault in our stars by john green) “as...you...wish...” (the princess bride by William goldman) “I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun.” (The hunger games by Suzanne collins, I can’t remember Which book this was, I think it was the first, when she wears her flame dress, I think)

10. Twilight, I guess, But I can’t say I hate it, because I have only seen the films, so, maybe a wizard of earthsea by Ursula le guin, I just can’t seem to get through this book, again though, I can’t say I hate it.

11. I don’t really know, I’m sure there is quite a Few, but they don’t come to mind yet, hmm...., maybe the confessions of Georgia Nicolson series

12. The hunger games trilogy, and the princess bride, with the princess bride I only eventually stopped reading it because it gave me a headache trying to concentrate while I’m tired (I wish I could dream That I was Reading, actually read in my sleep)

13. There are a Few, first, The twits by Roald Dahl, without this book I would not be a Bookworm, second, the hunger games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, it moved me emotionally, I couldn’t read straight for a week after finishing the trilogy, and it opened a new window in reading for me, whereas once I dare not of picked up a book aimed at teens, and I was scared of any kind of violence involving book, or sad books, now most of my new books are teen aimed at or older books and I love sad books and movies, which brings me to the fault in our stars by john green, a book that really moved me, and made me cry, a sad but wonderful story.

14. The hunger games, I want to relive the addiction, I loved how thrilling it was.
