- ok, temptation may get the best of me tomorrow. My local public library is starting their friends of the library book sale at 4pm. I don't know if I can resist going to look. I need to make a paper copy of my wishlist just in case. Otherwise I may wait till the last day and see what all I can get into the bag sale. Oh, help me not spend tooooooo much :)

yeah...i'm glad i didn't start...lol! so I stopped at borders on my way home from work today - 6 books for $1 (they were on the sale table and it was buy 1 get 1 50% off) and I found books for Pakistan; China; Japan; Israel; Italy and a book that I have had reserved at the library for like a month now...Plus yesterday when I was browzing the table I found one from Sudan and Ukraine, as well as England (a thriller that sounds good)

Dee - It was... eh. Confusing at times. It was like reading the Outlander in triple time and it only covers the first third of the story.

Not worth the $25 price tag. I'd say don't buy it unless you can get it for half-off or less.

The part I was most interested in (as I'm sure everyone else is) was the wedding night/honeymoon and how they would handle that. But it was just a quick one-panel. You can see it on Diana's website. Scroll down a bit. You can't miss it.

Melanie, I dearly love Jude Deveraux's A Knight in Shining Armor. I've read it 3 or 4 times. But I detest her special edition where she adds another 50 pages. In that, she turns the ex-boyfriend into an alcoholic, which is what she wanted to story to be about in the first place (She explained at the beginning why). To me, that ruined it. So I give the original version 5 stars and the special edition 2-3 stars.

I think I read the newer edition, but from what I read and understood, she gives him an alcoholic personality... he's not really an alcoholic.. Are there big differences in the storyline? Or just regarding Dougless' relationship with Robert? I loved this book! Even though the ending is not quite what I would have wished for..

The main storyline is the same but she does add a bit throughout the book. She mostly adds to Robert being an alcoholic. He was suppose to be in the original but I never saw it. But trust me, it went from one of my most favorite books I'd ever read to OMG I never want to touch the special edition ever again. That's a huge difference in the book. The 50 pages she added (she explains at the beginning of the special edition how many pages she added and why) simply ruined it for me.

In her introduction in the special edition she went into how she wanted to show an alcoholic personality without ever mentioning the word, and without showing him taking his fourth drink so that it was obvious. She babbles on about this for four pages. In the end she says...

In the years since A Knight in Shining Armor was first published, I'm happy to say, readers have seemed to like the book as much as I loved writing it. However, in the last few years, I've thought that I'd like to go back through the book and apply some of what I've learned over time about writing. So, in January of 2001, that's what I did. I didn't change the plot, didn't really add any new information, but I somehow managed to add fifty pages to the book. In the end, I think it's now a smoother read, and, maybe, it's a bit more understandable why Dougless wanted to marry a jerk like Robert."

To me, she took one of my alltime favorite books that I would reread often and flat out ruined it to the point I've never touched it again (even though I own the original in hardback and the new tradesize paperback of the special edition.) If you can ever get your hands on copies of both versions, before and after she added 50 pages, and read and compare both, I think you'd agree with me that the entire feel of the book changed. The newer version has a darker feel to it somehow that's overall more depressing than the original.
