that's part of the other reason...I have at least 2 books in progress right now that are GR authors and more on the pile
well then you shouldn't have any problem with the double
and the next two on the pile when i finish up the current oones are also GR Authors - Sin Undone (Larissa Ione) and Flowers from the Storm (Laura Kinsale)

I've reset too many times to be of any danger to anyone. lol I'm reading one chapter a day in The Name of the Rose but that isn't getting me too far either. lolI am starting to cross stitch alot starting this weekend and I've been given a deadline to finish a piece for my fiance. Trying to get it done within a year. It's 14 x 14 inches and has 19,077 stitches in it! And... only three colors. lol So it's huge, and boring. lol (It's the logo of his favorite footie team in England, which is my profile pic here.)

The stitching cuts into my reading time unless I were to find audio books which I have so few of as I usually don't like them. I've got the first 6 Harry Potter audiobooks on the pc (need the 7th yet) and have listened to those. (When I can find them, I prefer the UK versions read by Stephen Fry over the Jim Dale read US versions.) I do have a couple audiobooks. hhmmm A Drew Carey comedy one, two George Carlin comedy ones, lol. A Star Trek one (all those so far on cassette, lol), a culinary mystery, 4 Sherlock Holmes stories on CD, a Linda Farnstein thriller, and a collection of some Louis L'Amour short stories and novels read by Willie Nelson (one dramatized by the Highwaymen: Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash). And, of course, the library always has a vast selection to choose from. Just never been a big fan of audiobooks.
hhmmm, went and dug through my pile of books that I've put on PBS. I have picked up some audiobooks cheap and put them on there as they are worth double credits. I have 3 Sue Grafton alphabet mysteries (B on CD, O and K on cassette), two Jefferey Archer thrillers, Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Morrigan's Cross by Nora Roberts on CD, and something else.
Kate, that cross stitch project is true love *sigh!!* Too bad you don't like audiobooks, but I guess TV is an OK substitute *grin* I have learned that I do not enjoy abridged audiobooks - they just cut too much out of the story, but otherwise I love 'reading' while I'm doing dishes, laundry, ironing, gardening, etc.

I had to order the chart from England (by a company now no longer in business). I havn't touched it in at least a year or more. lol For a couple reasons. First off, chart is in 6 pages. The center of the scroll is where four pages meet. I miscounted and had to unpick the center twice, meaning I had to stitch it three times! I finally broke down and made extra copies of the chart (I had some to highlight anyway) and cut and tape the four charts together until I had one clear chart of the area where the four pages meet to get it correct. The other reason, after that put me off, lol, was the best way to do this was to outline the scroll in yellow, then do the writing in white. But stitching with white thread on white fabric is hard to see. Now that that's all done, I can just fill in with the blue around it. Time consuming, yet boring. lol
Off to the library to see what audiobooks I can find, and if any interest me.

Need some help as I don't remember. The audiobook I'm listening to is an hour long. It's a Louis L'Amour short story. I can't use the printed page count of the story because I can't find any printed edition listed in Goodreads (just about 8 audio versions!). Since the printed page count isn't available, does anyone remember the formula that was once discussed (it isn't on the first post of rules) on how to guesstimate a page count based on the length of the audiobook?
Louis L'Amour has about 30+ collections of short stories. After some googling online, I discovered which particular book included this particular short story, and it just so happens that I have it. Looking it up... I'm rather disappointed to learn that the hour long dramatized audiocassette is just a 23 page short story! lol Glancing at the first pages of the short story... the plot may be the same but word-for-word it is not. So... I'm going to go ahead and read the short story after I finish listening to it, since they are obviously just a bit different. So I guess I still need to figure out how to count the hour long audiobook as it is not the same as this particular short story page count. They altered it ALOT!
lol...well, listening to the Outlander series - each CD is about an hour and abotu 30 pages...I've never done a conversion from just audiobook...only ebooks with no print copy...
Someone once came up with a formula to use. I'm curious to read the short story afterwards. Audio starts out with a poker game (story is called 'Four Card Draw' afterall) where after drawing four cards the cowhand gets a full house and among other things wins the deed to a ranch in another state. Short story starts out with cowhand riding onto the property he won for the first time. Major differences.
Kate, I think I'm the one who did that, although it's not an exact science. I took some of the books I've listened to, looked up the page count on GoodReads, and divided pages by time. There's some variation, but 30 pages-per-hour sounds like a nice round figure
yeah, 30 pages sounds about right to me. I remember when you did that conversion and it has been pretty accurate to me.

NOTE: The dramatized audio version was much better and it made more sense to me that way. Other than the general plot being the same between the short story and the audio version, all the details were changed so it was almost like reading/listening to two different stories.

Good greif Dee - I rant to read that fast! I heard the end of Sin Undone is a real tear jerker, I have to find the first of them, they sound great.
in my defense...I was on nights all last week and I could easily knock a book out a night as long as it was quiet...and some of them are shorties (i.e. less than 100 pages)...I'm only about 50% of the way through sin undone, but i've definately teared up a few times already
