Since it now fits into three challenges, I have no excuse for not reading it anymore. lol Where Eagles Dare by Alistair MacLean was turned into a good movie starring Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood.
Thanks for the welcome! No bonuses for my first read but I started The Winter's Tale today.

Oooh I like ur ticker Jane =D. WTG reading Taming of the Shrew and getting bonus credit. I liked that more than other Shakespeare works we read in HS.
If I had Cliff Notes on Shakespeare Jane, I'd read them too! :) I never had to read Shakespeare in Highschool or college/university. I find reading a play confusing because of all the directional notes (enter scene: actor A moves to spot B and says...), so have never read Shakespeare.

It's my favourite too ! I've just finished my treat which was to watch the Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton film of The Taming of the Shrew ! Bliss, such a wonderful production of this work.

I don't have a terribly vivid imagination so I prefer it staged. Just finished watching the film production of the book featuring Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton ! Highly recommend it.
I've never lived where I could see it on the stage, so that leaves me just the film versions (when I can find them). I must admit, as confusing as Shakespeare is, it's easier to watch than read.

Yes, we watched that after reading the works. As a reward I think. It was awesome!

We have a great group this time, I don't think I have ever seen this many at one time. That is so great!
Yes, we have alot taking part now. Eventually, I'll finish another book this month and join in. So far only read one and it's the 13th. :(
You'll catch up, Kate. I am reading several and I always seem to finish right after a challenge, sometimes. LOL. We do have a great group. Nice to see what yall are reading and if u liked it or not.

Btw, if anyone's curious about the book I'm reading. It's hard to read straight through, easier taken in small doses. However, it is funny to see how supremely idiotic some folks can be.The Darwin Awards II: Unnatural Selection by Wendy Northcutt
A new volume commemorating individuals who improve our gene pool by removing themselves from it in a sublimely idiotic fashion.
partial credit 2/14 The Darwin Awards II = 122 pages
That will at least get me on the leaderboard, albeit in last place. lol

Your welcome. I know I find some unusual books on occassion. lolI'm familiar with the darwin awards online. Didn't see the first volume, but found volume II in the humor section of my used book store a couple weeks ago. My 12 year old wants to read it when I'm done. :)

The book I'm reading right now is based on Hamlet but modern-day; still not Shakespeare **sigh**
Unfortunately I stumbled across a used book sale today at the mall so I'll have to bow out of this challenge. I don't think I can catch up this late. It doesn't look like I'll have to wait long for the next challenge to start though! :)
COC POTD [Count of Challenge poll of the day:] Since joining the challenge. When you buy books do u:a. Think about the count, your page count, before you buy
b. Consider your buys [only must have or any sales will do:]
c. Feel better when you win to buy
d. Just have fun and feel like the challenge helps, but is not a definite factor to all my book buying decisions.
e. All of the above
f. Non of the above, explain
B Most of the time challenge buys that reset me are wishlist books I find at the bookstore I work at. For 50 cents its hard to pass up. I find a lot new books and they are shiny and pretty and I also have that weird tick about have books in my collection, lol.

It all depends. Like yesterday I was so far behind, I figured why pass up a good book for 50 cents at the thrift shop. If I'm doing well, I will wait. Winning feels GREAT! But having won so little (only once all of last year), it's not like I'm only gonna wait until I win to buy a book.
