Congratulations on your use of those double points!
It was indeed a good race - I was really prepared to see a winner already declared before I finished this latest book - guess we can be grateful for Ann's lack of self-control in buying. That's what kept me out of the two previous challenges - I was on a buying spree!

Here's the history that I used to arrive at # of pages (I added the 3 dates):

269 AD: St. Valentine died on Feb. 14, and according to legend, he left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter which he signed Your Valentine

496 AD: Pope Gelasius (I thought I knew my popes!) changed the date of the Roman festival of Lupercalia from Feb 15 to Feb 14 & renamed it St. Valentine's feast day

1847 AD: Esther Howland of Worcester MD sold the first mass-produced valentines - her daddy had a large book & stationery store

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) oohhh, great challenge. I have a book for each bonus word. hehe Two are worth triple points. Another is worth at least double, if not triple. Not sure which.
Truly, Madly (Lucy Valentine, #1) by Heather Webber by Heather Webber. In the heart on the cover it says "A Lucy Valentine Novel". However, it's not in the title even though it's written on the cover, so not sure that qualifies for triple points.
Not sure I'll get to the "cupid" book though as it's a 1968 Perry Mason story The Case of the Careless Cupid.

message 1287: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments Hey Kate, Lucy Valentine is the name of the main charecter and it is also the name of the new series that Heather Webber is writing. I have read this book, it is good (in my opinion) Hope you enjoy it.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I won it here on Goodreads as a First Read book. It sounded interesting. Just didn't know if it qualifies for double or triple page counts. It has "valentine" printed on the cover but not in the title, and a "heart" on the cover.

message 1289: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments I got it as an first read also, but I recently saw it in Walmart - I would say go triple, she just said 'on the cover' she didn't say it had to be title or name. imho. And enjoy the book regardless.

message 1290: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Feb 05, 2010 11:12PM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) I saw it at the grocery store today for sale. I'll go for triple. hehe It's the only way I can keep up with Jane, Ann and BJ. lol hhhmmm, does it have to be the same word and picture on the cover to get the triple? If that's the case then I'd only get double.

Not sure I want to read The Candy Cane Murder right now, lol, but that's another of my triple page count options as it's got candy in the title and on the cover.
Candy Cane Murder by Joanne Fluke

message 1291: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments lol I know what you mean. I need to research the books I have on my tbr better, you are going to score big if you keep this up. Way to think ahead. :)

message 1292: by ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (last edited Feb 05, 2010 08:51PM) (new)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Go to your shelves and there is a "search" field in the upper right corner, below the one that searches all of goodreads. Type in "heart", "valentine", etc. and you can see if you have any books (or authors) that meat the criteria. "Heartwarming" comes up with a search for "Heart", for example, or "Hearth". You have to scroll through what comes up but it really helps when looking for books that qualify for the bonuses. I have several Harlequin Desire's with "Valentine" in the title. I've got a book which I tried reading a few year's ago and didn't like called Hating Valentine's Day. Now to see if the books that'll give me double or triple page counts here will fit in any of my various monthly, quarterly, or yearly challenges. :)

The Perry Mason Cupid book is from 1968. I need 1967 and 1969 for my Read Your Lifetime Challenge, but I've already read 1968 darn it. lol

My only problem with using that is, I don't have most of my tbr's in GR. I have hundredes of books on shelves and in boxes. I have really only been adding as I read or specific tbrs that I know I want to read really really bad - I have to do a manual search. but I do have a few shorts by a lex Valentine. that would get me extra points - yes?!?

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) Novella's count. Go for it.
Other than my kids books, I have all the books upstairs in my house inventoried on GRs. All 3,605 of them! However, I have 8 boxes from the basement I brought up yesterday to inventory. These I got in $1/$2/bag sales so the books were super cheap. Most are old Harlequins but not all. However, hard to read them if I don't know what I have. So I brought all the boxes upstairs to inventory a box a day. I added a shelf called "Stored-in-basement", lol, so I can find them later. That won't tell me which of the 8 boxes its in, but at least I'll know it's in one of them versus buried on a shelf upstairs. It occurred to me I might have some of the really old BHB recommended books, but don't know til I inventory these boxes. I think I took out all the books by authors I recognized, and 2 apple boxes are nothing but white cover Harlequin Presents books. However, I'm needing selections from the '60s and '70s for my Read Your Lifetime in Books challenge and I need to know what my options are as I'm trying to just read what I have in the house.

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments I am probably in that range also, not to mention the kids books. I love old harlequins, I do the same thing. That is a great idea. Maybe I will take the time to dig out. I don't have a basement, so they are stashed under beds, in closets and in the back sections of shelfs. I really need to get more organized. Thanks for the idea about the 'shelf' telling you were to find the book. that may help me alot!!!! I am also doing the lifetime and I have to go back to 70. I can find a thousand for the 80, 90 an 2000, but the 70's are becoming a struggle, but I do have some of my moms old romance's that might include something that old. I am going to have to spend more time with my books - darn ain't life tragic. lol :)

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) This is quite a project for my Debbie to haul all these heavy apple boxes up from the basement to inventory. But I'm never gonna read what's in them if I don't know what I have. And since I'm searching my virtual shelves for challenge books, needing various authors, titles, publication dates, etc. I need to know what I have. Who knows, I might find a few real treasure's in here. I did just find one that takes place in Neptune, Nebraska. lol (I'm from Nebraska and we have very few books set here. However, my town is on the included map and I'd be roughly maybe 60 miles west of their fictional town. lol) And what ya know, it was published in 1988, a year I still need for Read my Lifetime in books. *Sets it aside so I can find it later.*

About a month ago I finally entered all of my Reader's Digest Condensed hardcover books and my Detective Book Club hardcover (probably also condensed) books into my GRs inventory. That way when I do searches, things like the Perry Mason "Case of the Careless Cupid" come up. Wouldn't have found it if I hadn't entered it here. I love my shelves! lol I have 58 different shelves into which the books are sorted. Books may very well be on more than one shelf. The one big thing I did was make an exclusive "UNREAD" shelf. GRs gives you 3 exclusive shelves, "read", "currently reading" and "TBR". A book can only be on one of those shelves at a time. With over 3,500 books on GRs and having read only 600 or so of them, I didn't want them all listed as TBR. My TBR shelf then has about 30 books or so on it that I hope to get to soon.

Debbie (db_debber) | 2757 comments very cool find. Yes, it is a task to do it all, but it may be worth it for me as well. I don't know if I will get to it this weekend though, the kids are really demanding my time right now.

ஐ Katya (Book Queen)ஐ (katyabookqueen) That's why I'm doing just a box a day Debbie. And to make sure I keep them straight, and to movitate myself, lol, I brought them all upstairs. Once I put a box into Goodreads, then I can carry it downstairs and put it away for storage again. I've got too much to do them all at once. Apple boxes hold ALOT of paperbacks. lol

Dang it. lol I'm finding too many that look good to read, old or not. So sitting a few aside... no need to bury all of them again. :)

Ack, taking me over 2 hours to inventory one box today and I need to take a break before I can finish this. May have to start breaking them up to add 1/2 a box a day. Then again, my dining room is a mess til the boxes disappear. lol
