The cover you linked wasn't 50% green. In order to claim the color on the cover it has to be the majority of the color on the cover, not just a color on the cover.

Instead of linking this cover Almost Perfect by Susan Mallery it should have been this cover Almost Perfect by Susan Mallery because it has a green tint to it all not just the green grass. When you go to add the cover right under the add button is a link to the other editions.

message 107: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) Today's word is Shoreline: Anywhere a large body of water meets the land, be it ocean, sea, lake, river, creek, reservoir.

Happy reading everyone!

Katherine (katdylan)

Week 3: Landmark
Book: Kellan by Kate Hoffmann
Length: 224 Pages
The Mighty Quinns Kellan by Kate Hoffmann

REVIEW:
Gelsey "GiGi" Woods is a retiring party girl who's have been just saved by our Quinn hero, Kellan. Gelsey wants to start over with her life, but her past has other plans, and try as she might, she can't keep Kellan out of it.

Kellan is drawn by Gelsey the very first time they met, and even if she isn't a real mermaid, he's hipnotyzed by her, like he's under some kind of siren call.
The Good:
I love Irish books and characters. I love their language, their culture, their manner. Kate Hoffmann can always make a good book about Ireland and its people. Kellan is no exception.

The Bad:
By the end of the book I felt empty. Like the book couldn't reach to me and make me go inside it and forget about all the rest.

The Cute:
The prologue when they are kids always gets to me. That was really cute, and one of my fave parts of the whole book.

The FUgly:
I really couldn't like Gelsey. I get it she wated to change and stuff, but her past (and her present actions) shows the behaviour of a teen, not a 27 years old woman. I didn't liked her at all. She made everything looks like Kellan was some big, bad monster for asking questions. There's no future without a past. Out with Gelsey, in with me!

Fave Quote:
She tipped her face up to the sun.
"Kellan Quinn is a very good man," she shouted.
"He's a feckin' gobshite."
The voice came from the direction of Danny's smithy and Kellan shruged.
"I guess we have other opinions on the subject."

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Sorry you guys I can't find a book with a famous landmark to save my life. I will look more tomorrow and I have an idea for one with a shore line.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Week 3 Landmarks

I read Vampire Kisses (Vampire Kisses, #1) by Ellen Schreiber and thought it was a cute book. I will read more in this series. It was a nice setup for a YA or 6th grade level book. Finished it September 21, 2012.

Items: Landmark --> Anne Rice's house or Bourbon Street, White ( when she wore the tennis outfit), Single female (Raven at the beginning of the book) Blood on the car after her friend hit Alexander

I think Laura still have to claim landmark.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Yeah Laura still needs to finish her read but I know that we are close on a few other things so I will look again tomorrow and write what things we are closer on too.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Sounds great Laura.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Week 4 Shore Line

I read the book Raphael (Vampires in America, #1) by D.B. Reynolds and it was really good. I am particular about the vampire books that I read but this one was very good. I have gotten the 2nd one and started reading it already. I like the characters and how they worked together in this book.

Items: shore line --> Malibu CA, red --> lipstick, stairs --> where she laid almost dead in her home and child --> his sister was only 16 when turned and a child in his eyes. Finished September 22, 2012.

In order to count single female or single male they have to stay single the whole book.

Let me know what other person you want to claim.

Just FYI Malibu won't count as shoreline. But I do know that Cyn lives in a beach front condo. So I will count it.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Dawn then I will claim couple since they were a couple in the book at the end. Thank you for letting me know that. Have a great weekend.

message 127: by Paris (last edited Sep 23, 2012 10:05PM) (new)

Paris (pah13) Okay, so I lied. I ended up reading something else for my book this week.

Week 4 - Shoreline

Gunmetal Magic (Kate Daniels World, #1) by Ilona Andrews
Rating: ★★★★★
Finished: 9/23/12

Shoreline: A yellow shore greeted me, touched with patches of bright green grass. page 266
Color: orange (cover)
Thing: stairs - I padded down the stairs, moving silently. page 9
People: child - A girl walked out of the back room. She couldn't have been more than seven or eight. page 259

I was a latecomer to the Kate Daniels series and really to Ilona Andrews books all together, but once I jumped in, I was hooked. When I read that they were going to write a book from Andrea's perspective I was excited. I love Andrea and always wished that we could see more of her, but always figured that wasn't going to happen. Thank goodness I was wrong.

It was great to get into Andrea's past and learn more about her. Her past created her and how she interacts with the people in her life. I loved getting to see her interact with Kate, Raphael and Ascanio and the rest of the Pack. Seeing her investigate the murder of four pack members was great too. She has a slightly different style then Kate, but there is never any doubt why they are friends and co-workers. And I absolutely love her version of intimidation.

I really hope we get to see more from her point of view. And hopefully we'll get more hot scenes between her and Raphael. And more of her intimidation tactics. Hell, I'll just take more of awesome, kick ass Andrea!

Lala | 335 comments Famous Landmark - on the cover (pyramids)

Lost in Time (Blue Bloods, #6) by Melissa de la Cruz 24.09.12 ★★★★★

Items:

Famous Landmark - on the cover (pyramids)
Black - on the cover
Blood - She pulled him ever closer clutching his fine baby-soft hair as he drank deeply from her blood
Celebrity - When they had arrived in Cairo the first time, the area around the pyramids had been choos-not only unbearably hot, trying to push through the crowds so they could get to the entrance, but all the while Sting was up there belting out those run-of-the-mill saggy middleaged yoga melodies.

It got over too soon :( This time the story took the characters to the underworld to fight with the dark forses and they found out there is a gate to heaven and one of the characters is the keeper and the key of the gate.

message 132: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) Woohoo! Looks like we should be getting another point for a non-called item with celebrity. We are really close (2 away) from getting a few other points as well. We rock!

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Good work everyone!!

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Alright ladies here is the run down on the things we are close on.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) Well then oh well at least we are ahead of the game. :-)

message 139: by Paris (new)

Paris (pah13) We're close on blue too, Toni and Laura need that one and mountains/cliff Laura and Sheila need that.

That's a lot of potential points coming up for us! Let's hope that the items that get picked fall our way.

Toni ~married to a hunk~ (tonileigh) I hope so too! Thank you Paris I didn't notice the other color one.

Laura, to count a color on the cover it needs to be 50% of the cover color. Black won't work for that book. Let me know if you have black inside or want to do another color.
