Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Lizz I love that series... my OCD won't let me read out of order. But I know I read a few back to back just because I liked them so much.

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Kim L is able to jump back in now so I am just going to put her back on your team.

message 163: by Kim (new)

Kim Hi everyone! I am excited to be back. I dropped out because I was worried I wouldn't be able to get the reading done with school starting and I did not want to let you guys down. But school has started and I actually have more reading time now than I did in the summer!!

I can't wait for the next item to be called so I can get started.

How does it work with me starting late? Do I only claim items that the player I am replacing has not already claimed? Or do I try to claim everything?

message 164: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cynx) | 408 comments Yay Suzanne! :)

Welcome back Kim! :)

message 165: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) I am just going to type your name over Kyra's, on the spreadsheet, so you will not need to claim the items she already has for the team.

She had claimed:
Celebrity, Warrior
Open Space, Forest
Wheel, Bed
Red, Green

I am going to think about this

message 171: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments First off, Welcome back Kim!!!

Secondly, Sorry I didn't get a chance to post the new item this morning, but its been literally one of those days that went down the toilet.

After ten minutes after arriving at work (before 8 AM), I was so proud of myself of starting early. We hear a big boom and the power is gone. Turns out thanks to a squirrel the transformer blew out and which also created some severe chain reaction. After the long long wait of actually talking to a live person, I was told 12 PM to restore power. So everyone decided to wait it out and work as best as we can. Of course, this is the only day, I decide to leave behind my IPAD because I haven't used it all week, so I probably won't today. (Boy, do I regret that decision all day, the amount of reading I could have done!!?!) At 1:30, the power company changed the status to undetermined because there were 9 other power outages area around us and power can be restored between now and 11 PM. so we got to go home. But what did I learn?

--Never ever go anywhere without your IPAD-- LOL.

Since I just go home a little while ago, and had time to hug my IPAD and finally go on goodreads. I will probably get around to looking at books tonight.

Finish Rant!!

message 172: by Dawn (Kat N Hat) (new)

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) I love the rant! It has been years since I have heard of pesky squirrels blowing transformers... However, I worked at an amusement park and blown transformers ended up being really bad as it shut rides down with people stuck on them all over the park. I sure don't miss those days.

I am glad your Ipad at least got a hug out of it.

message 173: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cynx) | 408 comments Oh no Hina! Other than the squirrel fiasco and missing your Ipad, I hope you had a great day!

message 174: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments LOL...

We did have a moment of silence for the poor squirrel, but I can't believe one squirrel caused all that damage.

I did have a thought it was my IPAD's way of punishing me for leaving it behind because I have it with me all the time whether I use it or not, but I have been so busy at work for the last two weeks that I haven't had any reason to pull it out so I just thought I won't need it, at least I could have been watching a movie, reading a book, anything and everything because I couldn't do anything work related everything was on the computer and servers that were down. We were actually charging our cell phones with car chargers because most of everything we can do was phone call related.

Most of us did spend more time goofing off because we moved our chairs out and some desks out into the hallway because we have skylights. Thank god for being a sunny day, or else we would be really in dark. Its a warehouse building so no regular windows.

message 176: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cynx) | 408 comments What do you do? Working in a warehouse building sounds cool with the skylights. ☺

message 177: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments I work in accounting for a Construction company so they bought out this warehouse that use to house a factory because its big enough to hold big equipment in the warehouse and renovated the rest into offices. The building is really cool, not really what you expect from the outside but they really did the offices nice, I think the only downside is not having a window but I think now we are just use to it.

message 178: by Hina (new)

Hina (hinaj) | 500 comments Dawn,

I was thinking about reading Samson's Lovely Mortal by Tina Folsom. The only one in places I did not have a book chosen out for gets called. LOL.

Would this work for Single woman, she is single when she meets the hero and he's protecting her, but they get into a relationship of some sort later in the book I think. Don't know for sure since I haven't started reading. Would this work?

She would have to be in a non-commited relationship with him. No falling in love, just a passing fling. To count for a character in the book she has to be single the whole book. But it doesn't have to be the main character.

That sounds really cool! No window does seem odd but a skylight isn't too bad. ☺

Dawn (Kat N Hat) (katnhat) Suzanne wrote: "Does New Orleans count as a famous landmark? I was hoping to read Skinwalker (Jane Yellowrock, #1) by Faith Hunter."

New Orleans itself no. But the garden district, french quarter, burbon street, superdome or cafe du monde ara examples of places that would work.

message 186: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne (esmerelda1) | 2733 comments Alright I'll look for those tonight!

Samson's Lovely Mortal (Scanguards Vampires, #1) by Tina Folsom

Rate: 5 Stars
People: Non-Human - Vampires are mentioned on Page 1, but I thought this quote was funny.
“Oh my God—you’re trying to have me turned into a vampire! What is he, some evil surgeon making vampires out of people?” - Page 196
Places: Famous Landmark - Golden Gate Bridge on the Cover.
Things: Stairs - She followed him with her eyes as he stalked up the stairs, strong legs taking two steps at a time, his tight backside shifting under the fabric. - Page 21
Color: White - Her white blouse was soaked, and she could have won any wet-t-shirt contest hands down. Page 14

I love this book, it had some hilarious moments, but the biggest one was a strong virile vampire, Samson who was experiencing erectile dysfunction and seeing a psychiatrist for it. Enter Delilah, the heroine who barges in Samson's home when running from her attacker. He thinks she's the stripper his friends have hired for his birthday and suddenly he "functioning" again. The books also introduces us to Samson's friends which will have their books in the series. The book had some very hot love scenes as warned, but it also has a solid plot and secondary stories with a little bit of suspense thrown in the process as well so it made for a very good read. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Kim I picked Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close for my book and was almost halfway through when I decided to abandon it!! Ugh. I should have kept reading, but I just couldn't do it.

Now I am reading Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult. It's a longer book so I am going to read it as quick as I can.

That's okay Kim, if you really don't want to read the book don't force it. It will just make you dislike it even more.
