Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments When it comes to The Protector Hero - Protector Hero:
The Protector Hero comes in many disguises and professions, most are obvious, but some not so much. You can find him playing the role of a cop, firefighter, spy, detective, bodyguard, part of the military, etc. The plot behind many Protector Hero stories involves a mystery where he almost loses the heroine while trying to save her.

Do you think fighting in a supernatural battle counts? The guy I'm thinking about doing for this one is a veteran warrior but I think it's in supernatural battles, not human wars.

Would that still count?

I'd say Greg is definitely a nerd. That description could have been written for him :)

Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments Thank you Nairabell!

Nairabell | 303 comments No probs - I love that book, although Etienne is still my fave :)

Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments I've only read one book in the Argeneau series so far and it was Etienne's book. I didn't know it was part of a series when I read it.

message 56: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 303 comments I saw Etienne's first, but brought and read Lucian's because I thought it was first. I felt like a moron when I realised Greg and Lissiana came first. Now I have all of them, but I haven't read the most recent yet as it's gotten lost in Mt TBR.

Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments I'm gonna start reading in order as soon as I get the first book.

message 58: by Nairabell (new)

Nairabell | 303 comments They are definitely better in order, but they're pretty awesome either way. Hope you enjoy them :)

Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments I'm sure I will, thanks for your input about the nerd hero category.

If you have any ideas for the Protector Hero or the Alpha Hero, I'd gladly accept suggestions.

Nice job, Angie! And Gabrielle, here are some potential alphas for your list:

- Curran from Ilona Andrews' Kate Daniels series. (He's the Beast Lord of Atlanta, and that title cracks me up every time.)
- Ethan from Chloe Neill's Chicagoland Vampires series.
- David from Dianne Sylvan's Queen of Shadows.
- Barrons from Karen Marie Moning's Fever series.
- Rhys from Meljean Brook's The Iron Duke.

message 70: by Galla (new)

Galla | 110 comments It might be fun to do a female version of this challenge, too, with ten different heroine types. Just off the top of my head, some categories might include the Kick-Butt Heroine, the Outsider/Rebel, the Wallflower, the Professional, the Rich Girl, the Minx, the Brainiac... Paranormal would work here, too.

Anyone interested in brainstorming a list & setting this up as a challenge?

message 71: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 5588 comments I have the 1st Nerb book by Vicki-Lewis Thompson (is the name right?) and I was going to try and use that for the nerd category.

I would do a female one.

What about a Bluestocking, Spinster, Woman Warrior, She-Devil and can't think of anymore.

message 72: by Angela (new)

Angela (angieerickson) | 338 comments I'd love to do a female hero version.

I read that book, Mary. It's a light read but if you're from the south you might get irritated by all the southern jokes. Personally, the hillbilly joke cracked me up.

message 74: by Galla (new)

Galla | 110 comments Mary and Angie, glad there's some interest! I'll try to put something together for a March 1 start date if the mods give me the go-ahead. Thanks for the input so far, and I'll welcome any more input anyone might have!

You know Galla when I first saw this challenge was going on I was thinking about that exact same idea, one of your ideas was to do a rich girl hero?

Would that be like she was brought up in a rich family and she wanted to...I don't get away from her rich life and do something different with her life? Something like that?

Oh and Galla? Thanks for your suggestions for the Alpha Hero!

Also I think for me that it would be a little easier to do a female version of this challenge as oppose to the male version, that's just my opinion though because I kind of had a hard time with the hero challenge.

I was thinking the same thing but couldn't think of categories but you should do the female version. It would be fun.

Galla | 110 comments Gabrielle wrote: "Would that be like she was brought up in a rich family and she wanted to...I don't get away from her rich life and do something different with her life? Something like that?"

Yes, exactly like that! Another variation could be someone who's privileged but on the shallow side, but who is brought down to earth a bit through the course of the novel (like Jane Austen's Emma).

Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments I'm sure that would work too! This sounds really promising I hope we get a chance to do this!

Angela (angieerickson) | 338 comments Lisarenee wrote: "Congrats Angie. You got through those heroes quick. How was Archangel's Consort? I need to read it."

I loved Archangels' Consort. Elena and Raphael have formed a deeper bond and there's lots of great love scenes. We learn more about the couple's families and childhoods. I loved it!

message 87: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Angie, I can't believe I haven't read it yet. I bought it before the scheduled release date and actually talked the sales person into getting it for me from the back. ;) Need to move it up on my list.

message 88: by Angela (new)

Angela (angieerickson) | 338 comments Lisarenee - put down what you're doing and start reading! It's well worth it.

message 89: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments I should. It's that same old thing where too many books and too little time to read them all.

message 95: by Sans (new)

Sans I'm using Mr. Darcy for tycoon. Either the original Pride & Prejudice or one of the many retellings or continuations work.

message 96: by Tommie (new)

Tommie (tommiemarie) Ooh, that's a good idea. It's been forever since I read Pride & Prejudice. A re-read is a good idea. Thanks Sans!

message 97: by Sans (new)

Sans Glad to be of help!

Gabrielle Blaque/~Bhlack Benehvolence~ (werewolfgrl1) | 417 comments Haven't read Pride and Prejudice yet. I was also thinking Tommie if you wanted to you could use Elizabeth Amber's Lords of the Satyr series for tycoon if you really wanted. They're pretty wealthy and help each other manage a vineyard.

But since you already decided to read Pride and Prejudice, I just thought I'd mention The Lords of the Satyr if you didn't already read them.

message 99: by Tommie (new)

Tommie (tommiemarie) Thanks, Gabrielle. I've not heard of The Lords of the Satyr. I'm always looking for new books to read. I'll check it out.
