It starts when they meet. Their current situation doesn't factor. It's going to be a series I believe, with each book showing how they got to the current state of affairs. I just finished it and gave it 4 stars.

Deb I finished it..it was so good. It's as good, if not better than Up In The Air because the characters seemed more "real".

I am reading Beneath This Man (This Man, #2) by Jodi Ellen Malpas . My OCD fueled the need to continue this series after the first (have to know what happens). Hate the heroine.

I'm just wondering if you feel/felt disturbed about the 2 grown men fighting for the 14 yo? I couldn't get past that, but even then the story fell a little flat as far as the expectation that I had from the Fever series, IMO.

Connie/Michelle: Them fighting over her didn't bother me for two reasons:
1. Ryoden is from an age where girls her age were routinely married off. Plus he acknowledges that is no longer acceptable and seems to be content waiting for the future version of her. Plus it rang true because I think men sometimes have these kind of thoughts, the normal ones know they are inappropriate and move on. Men all over the world found Britney Spears incredibly sexy in the Baby One More time video, doesn't make them perverts because she was under 18. Pervy is grown men actually trying to date underage teenagers (IMO).

2. Christian is going so dark and it's beyond his control. It's like he is having Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde war with himself. Finding Dani attractive might be the least of his sins by the end of this series possibly.

I used that rationale myself about the different time periods to see it as how Ryodan saw it. Still, I just guess that I don't want to think about that, seeing as my Babygirl is coming up on her teenage years, but she already has the body of a mid teen and the men sizing her up for the future just dampens the story a little. Too close to home.

I see the Chistian aspect as well. He can't really control what's going on within himself, so things that he wouldn't have done under "normal" circumstances is harder to refute. I get that.

Another thing with the book is just Dani period. There is just so much of her that I could take in one sitting. I understand the teenage hormonal overdrive, but too much of the Dani "Omega" was not a good thing for me. She needs another character to balance her out, which I think her friend Dancer did, but he wasn't around enough. Her and Mac were great together in the Fever Series, but I know it's Dani's turn to shine. I just don't know if I want to be under her sun.

Connie, I have that model at home myself. Don't get it twisted I have been known to go off on men leering at my 16 year old. Yet, do think there is a distinct difference between thinking it to yourself and being all obvious and creepy about.

I see how Dani as a character could have been too much, but I kind of like her. Keep in mind I like Taylor Swift too, so somewhere inside a 14 year old girl still lurks. Plus I'm such a Karen Marie Moning fangirl; I love everything she's ever put out. I can't wait until Barron and Mac's new books come out.

I know the men think it. I just don't want to hear it, see it, or obviously read it.

I wouldn't suggest that you were okay with the actual pursuit of Dani by those 2 in the book, but just pointing out what was happening as far as the story goes.

I myself am a KMM fan through and through. All of her books are 4 or 5 stars in my eyes, except this one. This is the ONLY book that I questioned her writing on. Everything else in the Fever and Highlander series just does it for me. Barron's is my top, favorite leading man in ANY of my readings. :)

Her highlanders were very hot as well especially Dageus in that series.

I totally didn't take your post badly or anything. So no probs.

Barron's is my favorite book boyfriend too. LOL Adam Black comes a close second. Have you ever listened to KMM audiobooks? You have to hear Phil Gigante's interpretation of all these books.

Connie | 761 comments That's actually how I got through my workday! I read all of them except the 6th one which was Adam's story. LMAO!!!! I actually really like his accents, though. I used to listen to audiobooks at work too, and the voices can make or break them. I used to be Laurell K. Hamilton apologist to 10th power until making the mistake of checking out Blood Noir (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #16) by Laurell K. Hamilton on audio. I felt trapped listening to all those bad sex scenes in my ear at work all day. LOL. Much easier to skim over uninteresting parts when actually reading versus listening to a book.

message 372: by Connie (new)

Connie | 761 comments LOL! He had the scottish accent spot on, I'll give him that, but the pace was pitiful. I wouldn't want to taint my highlander men with that voice for all of the books. One was enough.

You are so right about the audio. Sometimes I'm sitting there listening to a book and the narrator's voice will just annoy me and I think, oh no.

You know who has great audiobooks? The Jeanine Frost Night Huntress series. You really feel like there are different people reading the different parts. I'm glad I listened to those.

Regarding Iced (Dani O'Malley #1) (Fever #6) by Karen Marie Moning , I have to say I really enjoyed it. I love world that KMM created, and I loved Dani as the main character. However, there were definitely some eyebrow raising things that took place. I wouldn't want anyone getting confused by Dani being 14years old, and thinking this is YA novel. It most definitely is dark, with sexual references all over the place!

I'm glad that you finished the book Michelle and that you were still able to enjoy! :). I'm also glad that Ms. KMM is taking her time with this next installment. I'm thinking the last one wasn't as good for me because it was rushed. The turn around time was short in between the last of the Fae series and Iced. I just hope that I don't see as much sexuality towards Dani because I think that it would continually disturb me unless she advanced her age, but that would be stupid seeing as she ended the book with Dani meeting up with Mac.

KA loyalist here. :-)

I enjoyed Creed more than Knight because the characters had a long history together, which IMO makes for a better story.
