I know, I know. Just TRUST ME. Their age does NOT detract from the story. In fact, if anything its background and the foreground is so engrossing you really won't think about it overmuch. I believe she made them teens simply to allow for some of the plot points that the story centers around. In other words, some of the events and how they unfold wouldn't have the impact they do if they weren't at this specific stage in their lives. TRUST ME..READ THIS BOOK!!!

Atta girl! And believe me, I know of what you speak in getting burned. I'm to the point where I no longer pay attention to the star ratings. I got TO that point after reading (or trying to read rather) Damaged. That one was a big ole DNF for me and it sucked so bad I couldn't BELIEVE the amount of support and attention it gets. I honestly felt like somebody had flat out lied to me. I wouldn't do that to a fellow reader LOL.
I, personally, had not read a story like this before. Brutal material, dealt with in a brutally honest fashion that in no way took away from the romance. ESPECIALLY for YA/NA genre it was extremely authentic to me. A raw, beautiful story that didn't sugarcoat crap just to come off hearts and flowers. No clichés to get us to love the hero. No endless musings on his scent and how other high school girls react to him. She made it clear he's hot and all the gals want him, and then she was done with that part of the set up. Period. That's kind of the same thing with the age. It was part of the set up but after that, it wasn't a detail you got hit over the head with over and over. These two were more mature than the vast majority of adult leads I've read.

Speaking of, all my MC obsessed friends might want to check out
. It's not quite up to the level of say
but still kind of gritty and enjoyable. Very flawed hot hero.

Oh, and I was pretty much pissed about Beautiful Disaster by the end too. It started out good. I liked it up until about 3/4 of the way through when I realized they really weren't going to make the heroine any deeper than she was and we weren't going to get a real explanation for her stupidity. As usual, loved the guy. Hated the chick. I also hate when that happens.

"Loved the guy, hated the chick" should be the subtitle for nearly every NA book ever. I wanted to beat Travis with Abby by the end of that book, I disliked them both. It was disappointing because I wanted to love him, lol.

Alright I put this on my tbr because of you, missy. LOL.
But like other have mentioned, I avoid YA/NA like the plague. I've tried, but in the ones I've come across, many of the books go beyond formula straight into cliche and many of the authors don't seem to know how to take a negative review. But I am a sucker for a good book, so I'll give it a try.

I know, I know! lol, you can beat me with your keyboard if I'm wrong. I was just so impressed with it. And I've been fooled before by being impressed before I finished a book. This time though, I read the last page and still couldn't pick it apart, so I think its solid!
Speaking of cliché, my behind should have KNOWN better than to cave to reviews and try
.This was the most trifling, stereotypical read of the year for me. And that's not saying I didn't like the hero. Its hard to mess up a hero because women know what women like in a man. Still, it wasn't written so much as it was just a combination of every cliché you can think of that women like in a man, relationship misunderstandings and background players. Its like she used a template. Ugh. I was SO mad at myself for getting it.
I've been reading a lot of Niobia Bryant and A.C. Arthur. Two great authors. Right now I'm reading

Agreed!! Have you read
from Holden's POV? I thought it'd be just a rehash of Hopeless but it's not that at all!!

I just finished

BkGurl- I'm holding off on Losing Hope til the weekend. Hopeless was so deep, I feel like I need to cleanse the emotional palette, so to speak lol. But I screwed up and started Slammed, which I know is another rollercoaster. Also listening to Undeniable on mp3 at work during the day, so I'm a hotass mess this week LOL.

Havent read
yet but as someone who usually steers clear of YA fiction Colleen Hoover is an exception after Hopeless and Losing Hope.

Girl Undeniable is so gutwrenching, I've questioned even finishing it but I just did! Extremely well written but definitely not what I'd pick to satisfy my romantic jones. Glad I read it though. definitely worth the angst. I may need therapy now, but great novel. And I totally agree about Colleen Hoover
SO impressed with her talent.
I loved everything about
, probably because of the well written WTF. The couples age difference was beyond crazy. Deuce is kind of a horrible person. Yet it all fit because it's about Outlaw bikers. I am obsessed with the MC theme because of this book.

And them boys have a colorful way of interpreting right and wrong LOL. I'm to the point where I can't even read a book about a white collar guy now. If he's not blue collar or no collar, I'm not all that interested.

I finished two really good, but totally different books this weekend.
is the second book in the Fenbrook Academy series. The first one
was actually my favorite read this summer, so very happy there wasn't a sophomore slump.
is the second in the Breakneck series. Anyone looking for another hardcore biker book should give it a try.

This was a really good book. I was up until 3:30 this morning reading! The story was pretty light and much steamier than I expected for a HR. I'll definitely be checking out more of her books. I think I'll read
next.
Topaz is really good. If you are a fan of the Old West and wanted a good western with a black hero(ine), it's definitely the one to read.

I just DNF'd a book but didn't rate it. I was drawn to

My lack of empathy has been called out before because I don't care what makes people do the f-ed up things they do. Even knowing his issue doesn't make him less skeevy. I refuse to post a review reaming the author for daring to go there though. The IR made up for how annoying Tegan is though.
I am reading
in my quest to find another Dark Duet substitute. It's okay but very slow in the beginning.
M.A. & Mstcat- you know where I'd put the exclamation point too. Then I'd tell him"Scream on me, baby."
Michelle, honestly up until Lover Reborn, the series was on point for me. I wasn't wild about Lover Revealed. (Butch and Marissa's story) but I was still into the series til Tohr's. It just felt flat for me. Didn't care for John and Xhex's book but that has more to do with me disliking HER than the story.
I just started
.It's the next installment in Ms. Dohner's New Species series.
It's really sexy and funny so far! ;-)
Fashionista wrote: "I just started

It's a good series, but a little formulaic. I keep hoping she'll mix it up and hook a Species female with a human man. Adding an IR element would also be great!
I am currently reading this series
. Anyone who liked the Medlov crime family should think about checking it out.
In the land of WTF,
. I want to read this so bad just to experience for myself how bad it has to be. It's the reading equivalent of the movie Attack Of The Rotten Tomatoes.
Right now I'm reading
. For all of you into rockstar romance, right now it's only $0.99 for 12 different novels and novellas. Now that's bang for your buck.

Yes she does! And her supporting characters are always great. I loved her younger brother and her nephew in this one. When she claims he is her son and the hero says "in the last few minutes this child has called me, my men and my horse Mama" I about died.

I try to be open, but NA books tend to be the same story over and over again. I have been burned by five star reviews (seriously Jaime McGuire must have a list of people that owe her money) and now I am a skeptic. However, I have yet to get a bad recommendation here so I will bite, lol.
