I finished #3 - 'Neverwhere'(Urban Fantasy).I feel the need to bite into something more substantial. So I'm starting on an essay on Brahma in The Upanishad. It is written in my mother-tongue, Bengali by our great poet and writer Tagore. I had read it 30 years ago as an under-graduate and have completely forgotten it.I cannot thank the moderators enough for thinking up this challenge. It has forced me to explore and I'm enjoying it so much.
I just finished my fifth. Erotica - Triptych
Literary Fiction - Canada
Magic Realism - The Night Circus
True Crime - The tall man : death and life on Palm Island
and just now, Steampunk - Kultus
Thanks so much for putting this challenge together. I'm having a great time reading new genres.
I probably would not have read the books that I've read so far, if not for this challenge, and the great thing is that they have all been good / great reads, and so far many new authors, from ones I've meant to read something by to others with a first time published novel. Great discovery experience!

I've currently finished 8/36 and am slowly working on my 9th which is Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong. It's a really heavy, in-depth, serious book so I'm only reading it in small chunks.
I'm running into a little bit of a budget problem trying to keep up with this challenge, and my small rural library isn't much help. I was wondering if anyone here would be willing to loan me any of these in Kindle format? I'm open to alternate suggestions too.
Cryptonomicon
Second Shift - Order
Through the Language Glass: Why the World Looks Different in Other Languages
Stardust
We Have Always Lived in the Castle
The Sandman, Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes
The Monsters Of Templeton
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
The Elegance of the Hedgehog
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
Perdido Street Station

I see many people planning to read the Delta of Venus, is it really that good?
Wow, some of you are making amazing progress! I am currently meeting my target of three insane challenge books a month. January I finished three books for Young Adult, Hard-Boiled & Romance:
In February I plan to tackle Mystery, Humour & Gothic:
just finished biog - Henry: virtuous prince - David Starkey.Fascinating reading much more indepth about Henry's younger years and how he became the king he was.
Next true crime: Underbelly: the gangland wars...eep!! i lived through this so i cant wait to read about the gory details
#8: Children'sHarry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling
http://darlenesbooknook.blogspot.ca/2...
I finished 'The graveyard book' (children's literature). Also Philosophy. For that after considering several options I read a book in my mother tongue on a saint of the 15th century who brought about a great upheaval with his teaching. I'm glad I read it because I had known very little about it.
Just read One Day for Romance. Didn't like it. Not my kind of thing at all. Not very likeable characters and no substance.
4, Holes children's lit - middle grade adventure, an old world curse lands a boy juvenile detention. This book was like number 1 until the boy wizard came along; been wanting to read it and glad I finally did.
5, Wool Omnibus Edition, post-apocalyptic, character driven, fully-realized world - this will end up as a movie, the special effects should be fantastic.
6, Ready Player One - cyberpunk - one of the most fun books I've read. This one should be a movie, it could have the most fantastic special effects. It's very visual, nostalgic and futuristic.
So far I've really enjoyed all the challenge reads and could easily re-read any of them, but too many other books!
