Finished: 12/22 -- ★★★★
My thoughts: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/71...

Items Claimed:
Rainbow: (pg 24) On the man’s left hand was a strange ring—a simple band that pulsed with color, swirling in an iridescent mix of baby rainbows
Boots: (pg 139) He shoved his jeans and boots off just in time to watch her do the same
Curly Hair:(pg 169) The halo of curly black hair around her head made her look younger than her twenty-two years.
Fruit: (pg 92) It would be like a farmer cutting down his orchard to make it simpler to harvest this year’s fruit.

Book: Ashes of Midnight - Lara Adrian
Completed: 12/23

Review: Book 6 in the Midnight Breed series. More of the same - if you've read one, you know pretty much what's going to happen. I'll continue to read the series, but I will not rush out to find them. I really do think I'm a little burned out on PNR.

Bonus Items:
Mist/Fog: pg. 33: ...drizzle-laden shroud of fog that blanketed the forest and the ground below.

★Meghan★ (starinheaven) Meghan's Boots Review
You Against Me by Jenny Downham
You Against Me by Jenny Downham
Book Completed: 12/27/2012
Rating: ★★★★★
Items Claimed: Fog/Mist, Boots, Toes, Fruit

Review:
I don't know why, but I absolutely love books like this. The type where through all the adversity and struggles. The characters still are able to find romance in one another.

This book is about Ellie and Mikey. Ellie's brother, Tom, is accused of rape and she is the only witness to the event. Her statement to the police is that she was asleep all night and did not witness anything. Mikey is the brother of the rape victim ,Karyn, and is seeking revenge on Tom.

By Mikey looking for the best way to get revenge on Tom, he has come to know Ellie and is looking forward to being with her and getting to know her and vice versa. The relationship between them and what they bring out in on another is endearing and hopeful for what you would like to see in all relationships.

I am not sure that I really liked Mikey a lot as a character, but I am not always into bad boys especially the type that smoke a lot. I do however love how he takes care of his family being the only boy and lives up to the older brother name. Ellie is a great person who just needs the best brought out of her. I think that her family held her in for too long and she just needed a little encouragement.

Items Claimed:

Emilie's Christmas Love by Joyce Lavene

Review - This had to be one of the best Christmas books I read this season. It was filled to the brim with feel good notions, romance, hard heads, and lovable characters!

Emilie's major wish in life was to be able to adopt a child since she was unable to bear any but time and again she is turned away for one reason or another and then as luck usually goes she ends up finding more than she bargained for!

Boots Week - (Completed 12/27/2012 - 4/5 stars)

Emilie came back downstairs in her jacket, gloves, and ski boots....(Location 1956)

Also Claiming...(wind, tail, and fruit)

...sighed with the wind that blew down from the mountain. (Location 1755)

...blue and green robe spreading out around her like a peacock's tail. (Location 3324)

how she couldn't taste forbidden fruit without being ruined. (Location 2464)

Blaze of Memory by Nalini Singh
Read: 12/29/2012
Rating: ***
Review: Another day another Nalini Singh novel. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this one because the two main characters were both Psy, but it was alright. I think the changling characters have more flavor to them, but this one was ok. I liked learning about the origins of silence and the end was sweet.

Items:

The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce, #1) by Alan Bradley
Book: The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie - Alan Bradley
Completed: 12/30
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★
Review: Flavia de Luce is an 11 y/o chemist/detective. She loves poisons and tormenting her sisters. When a body is discovered in her garden, she's determined to solve the mystery of his death. The stuff she pulls, I would never have thought of doing when I was 11. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading more of Flavia's adventures.

Bonus Items:
Rainbow: pg. 127: The sun came out to play in rainbows on the grass...
Belt: pg. 11: Pulling on a pair of gardening gloves that had been tucked into my belt ...
Tail: pg. 288: In two shakes of a dead lamb's tail I was aboard Gladys...
Bike: pg. 163: Leaving Gladys to graze in a bicycle stand... (Flavia named her bicycle Gladys)

Shoulder: Leaving her cell phone in the glove box, she grabbed her backpack from the passenger seat and slipped the straps over her shoulders.

Starcrossed (Starcrossed, #1) by Josephine Angelini
Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
Book Completed: 1/2/2013

Items: Lightning, Glasses, Elbow, Glasses

Review:
Helen is a girl who has lived on Nantucket island nearly her whole life. When this unbelievably gorgeous family moves to the island, she learns from them that she is a demigod of a nearly extinct House, but is unsure of which one and may have to fight to the death in order to stay alive.

This book was a toss up between giving it a 3 ½ star and a 4 star rating. I knocked it to the 4 star rating for two main reasons. It kept me wanting to know what happens next and the characters have great sarcastic attitudes which makes me like it more.

However, my qualms with the books are that the story is not very original. Seriously, the ending sort of reminded me of City of Bones. The writing was just...meh.

As for the characters, Helen and her father have a great relationship. Lucas and his relationship with Helen is a little to close to the relationship that Edward and Bella share in Twilight. I love Claire. She is extremely sarcastic and exactly the kind of friend that I like to have around. She is always there and completely supportive of Helen. I think out of all of the Delos family, my favorites were Jason, Hector, and Pandora. They are complete opposites, but evened each other out. I liked that Pandora seemed completely different than the rest of the family and always seemed like the vulnerable one.

Lightning: "'You can generate lightning.'"-pg 169
Glasses: "'I see you decided not to enroll in any Advanced Placement classes this year,' he said, looking at her from over half-moon reading glasses." -pg. 20
Elbow: "Helen felt Claire turn to her to see her response, but she had her elbows on the table and her head cradled in her hands, rubbing her temples." -pg. 23
Bike: "Riding her bike to school, she noticed it was unbearably hot and humid for a second day in a row." -pg. 31

The Abduction of Mary Rose by Joan Hall Hovey

Review - Oh wow this was a good story but the last several chapters were pure edge of your seat thrills! It's sorta sad in a way because Naomi loses her mother to cancer only to find out she was not her mother at all and that she was adopted because her birth mother died after a brutal attack. Now she seeks vengeance and justice and gets a cold blooded killer on her trail! Loved it! She was a heck of alot braver than I ever could be to strike out on my own to entice a killer!
