Jane | 705 comments Sorry I have been a bit away the last few days. Since coming back to Denmark I have been unemployed but yesterday I had an interview and got the job. It will start November 1st.

I am still expecting to finish another 5 books this month, hopefully the first 3 during today and tomorrow.

I will also try to update about the October RaT by tomorrow.

Lisa - (Aussie Girl) | 6399 comments Congrats on the new job, Jane.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Jane, that's awesome news. We are so happy for you! and PROUD of you! Job hunting can be a pain!

message 1506: by Barb (new)

Barb Congrats on the new job, Jane, that has to be a relief for you :)

message 1507: by [deleted user] (new)

I just started reading Doctor Sleep (The Shining, #2) by Stephen King by Stephen King. It's the sequel to The Shining (The Shining, #1) by Stephen King . I'm only a couple of pages into to it since I started it yesterday evening when I got it. Hopefully, it's a good book.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Nancy, I read that earlier this year and loved it. Definitely a classic. I understand why people say it's one of his bests!!!

The Shining is a classic, I just hope Doctor Sleep will be the same way.

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I've heard mixed reviews. I cancelled my preorder because I heard such rotten things. I figured it would make a good loaner first lol.

My worry is that he took a great and simple story and went way past the original intent... And from what I heard, he did take it too far past.

I'll still read it though!

message 1511: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll still read it as well. I'm enjoying the book so so far nothing bad from me about it.

message 1512: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments Thank you all for the congrats on my new job and yes Barb it was a huge relief.

I can't complain though as I have only sent 5 applications and this was my second interview. And I think I sent the first application mid August so it went fairly quickly.

message 1513: by Barb (new)

Barb Even with all the books we've read for the September percentage challenge, we've slipped back to SIXTH PLACE now :( The good news is that we're only one book behind the fifth place team!

message 1514: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments I'm pretty sure we were in sixth last week! :p

But hey, I've got some bouncy cupcakes, triple threats, and cutthroats to go through for September! :p

message 1515: by Barb (new)

Barb Well then what are you waiting for? LOL I thought we were in 5th place last week, but I'd have to go back and look it up. You're probably right, though :)

message 1516: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments It was fifth or sixth. We might have just been close to fifth. I had a dream last night that we were fourth :(

message 1517: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments What am I waiting for? Time and brainpower to go through all the cupcakes and spreadsheets I've had to make to keep track of which books CAN count for which kind of cupcake, which have been turned in, which haven't, how many cupcakes are remaining, etc...

It's a LOT of work LOL.

Awww, Nicole, we're getting there! :P

Barb Steven wrote: "What am I waiting for? Time and brainpower to go through all the cupcakes and spreadsheets I've had to make to keep track of which books CAN count for which kind of cupcake, which have been turned..."

LOL You know I'm kidding, right? :)

message 1519: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Yeah, yeah... don't expect my brain to process anything correctly... it's fried!

message 1520: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Steven, is Barb giving you any trouble?

I'm not sure what I can do because I'm still weak from my migraine, but I'll try to do something!

message 1521: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Always! ;) hehehehe

message 1522: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Isn't like awful early for you to be up? And having coherent thoughts?

My brain is trill having trouble functioning and I'm up for 4 hours now...

message 1523: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Steven seems to be online all the time. ;)

message 1524: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Haha I'm really not... I just have the iPhone app so I can check in on random spare moments. Hehe

message 1525: by Barb (new)

Barb Sonia wrote: "Steven, is Barb giving you any trouble?"

I wouldn't do that! He does too much work for our team, we'd be lost without him :)

<3 you flatter me!

message 1527: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Naw, I love feeling the love in this team.

Barb Nicole wrote: "Naw, I love feeling the love in this team."

Me too! We're competitive enough to *try, but not so competitive that it takes over everything we do. And we all get along, too, which makes it even better :)

message 1529: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Yeah, I mean, I see similar things in most groups here. It's just nice. Book readers as a whole must be lovely over competitive.

message 1531: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments When are the Mango Tango specific threads for these challenges going to be made?

message 1532: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments I thought Monsieur Mango already did that?

message 1534: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Thanks Sonia! Usually I'm on top of these threads! Obviously that one just got past me. Thanks again :)

message 1535: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Thanks Sonia... I was about to say I'd made them a few days ago! :)

Even linked them in the September Challenge thread... but I know posts can get lost in the sheer volume of postings very easily!

message 1536: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments No problem... I had to check something in one of them, so I knew they were already up!

message 1537: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Plus I was setting threads at the time... I was with the right mindset :D

message 1538: by Nicole (new)

Nicole Field (nicolefield) | 1778 comments Good timing for me to have lost the right mindset then ;) We'll just say I was too busy trying to finish books to notice. *sage nods*

message 1539: by Sonia (new)

Sonia (darktalynn) | 11599 comments Since you are fighting for 5th, being busy finishing books is something that Steven will approve... at least I believe so :)

message 1540: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments Umm, we're fighting for First! Hehe!

     SPOOKY READINGS!!!

message 1549: by Steven (new)

Steven (gallifreyan1218) | 5272 comments And..... I started reading at my desk at work (instead of working) right when the clock struck 11am EDT... hehehehe

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Mwahahaha, bad Steven! I commend you, hehe.

I almost forgot to keep track of how many pages I was at for 2013 until about 7 minutes before the RaT started. Sure, I could take the old fashioned route and actually count the pages, but ehhhh. It's much easier to let the system do the math for me, hehe.
