jaxnsmom wrote: "Sam wrote: "Excellent suggestions Sarah, I'm not sure what I'm going to read for those letters yet, might just stalk the aisles of the library and see what jumps out at me (hopefully it'll be a boo..."Don't worry Jmom, I'm usually considered the scary one in the library, apparently I have a tendency to lurk and appear around corners unexpectedly ;-)
Finished another one today with The Seven Branches by James Fenwick, think I'm really going to have to stalk the library shelves soon, I'm rapidly approaching those X and Y letters!!
Finally finished my T with Titus Groan by Mervyn Peake, now on to another epic with Ulysses by James Joyce and to stalk the library for my X and Y options!!
Finished U with Ulysses, did not enjoy that one! And found my X and Y in the library, onward ho!!! :-)
After trawling the shelves at the library I picked up Xombie: Reanimated, Volume 1 by James Farr and Yossel. Writer, Joe Kubert by Joe Kubert. It seems that titles beginning with X and Y are a bit thin on the ground at my local!
Hi, Sam, you are really smoking hot! Holy Cow! ; ) Glad to see you making such lovely progress. Congratulations!
Thanks Connie, its more because I'm really focusing on this one and not worrying about the monthly challenges this year. I hope to get right through all seven alphabets by the end of the year ;-)
I am a regular visitor to my library as well as my local secondhand bookstore and Waterstones when necessary. Its worse now I've discovered a bit of a fondness for graphic novels!!!And thanks Sarah :-)

Cherie wrote: "Oh, I can't wait to see what you have to say about your D book. What a title!"So I had to look -- HAAA!! Seriously reminds me of one of the creepy stories we girls would tell each other at sleepovers and scare ourselves half out of our wits :)
Thanks Judy, some may say that's because I have waaaaaaaaaaaay too much free time but at least I know I'm understood on here ;-)
Sam, you are one hot cookie! Racing for the finish line!!! Hey, girl, there's no one behind you! LOL!!! WTG!
I started that one years ago and gave up on it, not because of its length, but it didn't appeal to me. I've kind of avoided his other books as a result.
Well I can confirm that my D book, Never Suck a Dead Man's Hand: Curious Adventures of a CSI, was not a disappointment and lived up to everything the title suggested!
Janice wrote: "I started that one years ago and gave up on it, not because of its length, but it didn't appeal to me. I've kind of avoided his other books as a result."I haven't found it too bad so far Janice but I'm only a short way in so we'll see how it goes :-)
Sarah wrote: "Good luck with that one Sam!"
And thanks Sarah :-D
Sam wrote: "That would be London by Edward Rutherfurd Janice with a grand total of 1,302 pages :-)"Sam, are you reading this book in "hard copy" or listening to it, or on an e-reader? I saw a copy of a 1500 page book at the library sale and picked it up. Even in paperback, it was heavy!
I am glad your D book turned out to be good for you. I have added it to my list. I love watching all of the CSI shows on TV. My oldest granddaughter wants to be one. She is in the service right now, but that is what she is planning on tackeling after she gets out and goes back to school.
Sam wrote: "Well I can confirm that my D book, Never Suck a Dead Man's Hand: Curious Adventures of a CSI, was not a disappointment and lived up to everything the title suggested!"Added it. :)
I too have requested this book- but I want it in book form so I can carry it around and watch people's reaction to the title!

I've got a paperback version of it so I'm exercising while reading ;-)
In that case I would definitely recommend getting her a copy, it'll show her what she's really in for (although being in the service is probably good preparation!).

Now that's what I like to hear Janice :-)

I had some interesting looks when I was out and about reading it, particularly at the airport! Think people were relieved when I wasn't on their flight! ;-)
Marnie wrote: "I too have requested this book- but I want it in book form so I can carry it around and watch people's reaction to the title!"Good one! I like your attitude. :)
Marnie wrote: "I too have requested this book- but I want it in book form so I can carry it around and watch people's reaction to the title!"LOL!!
I have finally finished London by Edward Rutherfurd and now feel the need for a short recess of easy reading before the next one on my list!!
And another one down with Notes on Nursing: What It Is, and What It Is Not by Florence Nightingale :-)
Another two down with Monty Python's Flying Circus: Just the Words: Volume 1 by Graham Chapman and Etc Etc Amen by Howard Male :-)
LOL! I just read the story line for your book, Sam. I think my daughter can quote quite a few of his scripts! Maybe she will see the title. :D
Sam, just thought I'd check in on you, and WOW! London! That one is still on my bookshelf. I was amused by your "D" title--glad it turned out to be a good read. After London, you need some light, breezy reads for a while. Of course, they are all lighter after London. : )

Glad I got through it though :-)
Got a few more down but now have to hunt down an 'O' first named author...think a visit to the library is called for ;-D

It was nice to know it wasn't just me, I've never known a Sunday morning to be so quite in Cardiff. Even the drive home to my parents was weird as the traffic was that bit slower than normal!
