Tai Manivong is fantasy author who aspires to write a timeless literary masterpiece. She wrote her first novel in 11th grade when her English teacher let her write a novel instead of journal entries. Tai wrote Crimson, the first novel of The Dragon Keeper Chronicles, during her time as an elementary teacher. She shared her progress with her 3rd grade students to keep them motivated in writing.
She enjoys writing young adult novels and novels with anthropomorphic animals, mainly dragons and dogs, with the themes of change, hope, love, and acceptance of who we are.

When I talk about what I am writing it leads to more ideas. I also take a step back from writing and work on editing other pages that I have written. I go over the pages and see where I can add descriptions, dialogue, or build in character personalities. I ask myself questions with the comment feature in word to generate more ideas later. For example, if my character is in the mountains, I might ask, what plants are growing there? Then I can add some descriptions of the world. If I am still having trouble I go on a nature walk to clear my mind. (less)

I had been talking with her about wanting to write a book and when she showed me her drawing the idea came to life. The first draft only took me a month to write. That is how inspired I was with the idea. I was so excited to be creating this new world, with new species and an epic adventure. I used my own two dogs as more inspiration watching how they acted and incorporating their personalities in to the characters in the novel. Two years later, after several rounds of editing, revisions, heartache and frustration Crimson was finally finished. Now, I am working on book two. (less)

Three Years of Audiobook Narration

It's been a few years and I decided to start writing blog posts again. I was listening to a random post about acting and how it takes 10 years till you really take off, or at least be comfortable in your skin as an actor. You keep working and honing your craft. After 3 years of audiobook narration, I can say that I am still learning. I have produced over 24 audiobooks for indie authors and Learnin Read more of this blog post »
