I like to guess books and movies before the big secret is revealed or the end. I am typically wrong with movies but have a decent track record with books. The fact that I do this annoys my friends but they also know when I ask, "does this happen" and they've read/seen it they keep it to themselves because I'll be more angry if they tell me the ending vs being right or wrong.
By far my favorite surprise finds are when books advertise themselves as "not your typical" however they end up having the same synopsis of the typical whatever. While I try not to ass books by their covers, I usually do. To avoid this judgement I read the synopsis and download a free sample from Amazon before I fully commit.
