In sum, I do a little bit of many different things. Avid reader across all genres, though my go-to tends to be sci-fi/fantasy and tons of YA, also passionate about anything related to health/fitness/wellness. Have been a member of Goodreads since 2010.
I tend to rate books on a half-star system. Since GR doesn't support half-star ratings, I'll typically round up to reflect rating. I had a much longer system on my profile before, but since it was hacked a while back, I've had to re-write this from scratch Here's my breakdown:
4.5-5.0 stars: My favorite books - would highly recommend them for a multitude of reasons and they're likely re-reads or features in my personal library.
3.5-4.0 stars: Books I hold in high regard, might have a few elements that worked against them in places, but I nonetheless thoroughly enjoyed them and would recommend them.
2.5-3.0 stars: Books that are usually middle of the road for me. Good reads, solid for what they offer in some respects, but have other detracting elements that affected my reading. Will usually point out in detail what didn't work for me. Still would give a solid recommendation to them.
1.5-2.0 stars: These are books are okay, but have elements in them that weren't for me or aspects that I didn't like very much that heavily detracted from my reading experience. Will usually go into detail about what didn't work for me. There are some books that I'll rate 2 stars and still respect for the experience they offered though, and give recommendations to those who might enjoy them despite the detracting elements.
1.0 and below: Nope. Not my cuppa. Run like the wind, bullseye.
