“Oh Eve,” he whispers on my lips. “You need me so much. Almost more than I hunger for you. It’s a real shame to have to stop now.” Stop? I repeat to myself, feeling a sudden cold. Before I’m able to hold back, I whisper: “Why?” in such a broken tone that it’s almost a moan. “Because I don’t want to be your lover, Eve,” he says in a louder voice, holding my face in his hands. Then he leans back over me and rests his cheek on mine to speak directly in my ear. “I want to be your only lover,” he whispers. “I don’t want to share you with anyone.” A moment later, he’s gone.”
