Although these two character only share one day together, James Cameron did an excellent job of showing the viewer that they had very strong and real love - love that transcended two worlds at two different times. It was also very believable, putting the whole time travel issue to one side. Kyle clearly loved Sarah, even before he had met her. And Sarah's life was given meaning and direction from Kyle - she became a tough character in the sequel and gave birth to the savior of all humanity!
