Taylor Reed asked:

So I've already read Firefly Lane awhile ago actually and I've seen Fly Away but I never knew it was the sequel to it. Reading the summary makes me really, really want to read the sequel but with looking at all the reviews, I'm slightly saddened to know that there are so many low stars. I'm wondering if it's even worth it to read the sequel?

Nancy Brady Taylor, in my opinion only. Don't pay attention to others' opinions on ANY book. There are some books I love, and no one else does. In the reverse, there are some books everyone raves about that leave me cold. Ultimately, it is personal preference. I generally don't look at reviews until I have already formed my opinion or have some questions about the book that don't add up. That's generally when I look at reviews. As a coincidence, I noticed that all the books I am currently reading rank in the 3+ category including The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, which is often considered one of the great American novels. What that says to me is that even great literature has those people who don't like a particular book very much.

So, if you want to read a book, read it. (in this case, Fly Away).

By the way, I haven't finished Fly Away yet, but am enjoying it...for what it is worth.
Shari You have to read this book after Firefly Lane. It ties up the loose ends and it is wonderful. If you have not read the first book, you won't get it!
Christine I would still read it, but just note that the tv series doesn't follow the books very closely.
Ginger I agree with many of the comments that found Firefly Lane better than Fly Away, but I still thought Fly Away was very good. If Firefly Lane got you invested in any of the characters, do yourself a favor and read Fly Away.
Debi Firefly Lane was excellent; I'm still reading Fly Away and it seems a bit redundant--seems like Hannah is trying to catch people up or maybe even appealing to someone who didn't read the first one. There are some good moments in the book but overall a slow read for me. Of all her books I've read Nightingale is by far the absolute best so if you like historical fiction, this is a winner!
Anthea I enjoyed Firefly Lane and have just started Fly Away. It isn't grabbing me the way the first book did but I'm hoping I'll get more into it soon.
Martha B. Steele No it is not worth reading the sequel. Very disappointing. Hard to follow + it doesn't flow well from one character to another.
Jodi Frisch Absolutely!!!!5 stars!!
