(view spoiler)[Hello! I have a question about a discrepancy within the Desperate Duchesses series - maybe I'm confused on the details but it keeps nagging at me. In "A Duke of Her Own" it states that Lady Lisette's mother is dead. But in "Seven Minutes in Heaven," she is very much alive and plays a fairly important role. Was Lisette just delusional in thinking her mother was dead, or is there a different explanation? (hide spoiler)]

Hi there! Argh... Did you happen to see that line in the Author's Note where I talked about bringing a character back from the dead accidentally? That was Lisette's mother (alas). The problem was that I had never had her on the page; she had died long before A Duke of Her Own. So I didn't have her fixed in my mind. I wanted to turn Lisette into a more complicated character -- one with a mental illness, perhaps, but also love for her children. I turned to her mother as an explanation for at least part of her behavior, and didn't discover until the first professional review came in that I'd brought her back from the dead! So that was awful... I'm starting a new series in the fall and this time I'm starting a Bible. The Desperate Duchesses series was supposed to be 4, and then it grew to 6, and then it grew to 9, and I'm not detail-oriented at the best of times. I hope it didn't upset your reading experience, and you enjoyed Eugenia and Ward anyway! ~ all best, Eloisa

Hi Eloisa, I've just finished The Ugly Duschesss yet again and it just hit me... did James suffer from some form of Dyslexia or ADHD? I ask because although I don't suffer from any of those illnesses I did study them in school and I find it interesting when authors give characters such illnesses when they weren't discovered nor understood until years later. Many Thanks x
