Goodreads asked Aaron Jinks:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Aaron Jinks Never never never never never never lack belief in yourself, because disbelief is lethal. I went through phases of disbelief while writing Strike of Lightning and that disbelief brought me to the point of giving up on it. Of course, I came back. I couldn't stay away from it for too long. And if there are those who don't believe in you, do not listen to them and do not let what anyone thinks get in your mind. There's nothing you can't do.

Also, don't stay with the same project. I had to learn that the hard way while writing Strike of Lightning. I never worked on anything else other than that project, thus that was what I thought about all the time. It was easy for me to write anything Sound of Thunder, but not so easy to work on something else.
