Jessica asked this question about Orlando:
The only novel I've read by Virginia Woolf is 'Mrs Dalloway' and, while I liked the story itself and understand why it's a classic, I didn't like the writing at all. It was difficult and tiring to follow and I had to focus on it so much that I couldn't relax and enjoy the story. Is 'Orlando' written in the same way as 'Mrs Dalloway'? If not, how is it different?

It's a dense novel ripe with elevated vocabulary and what I can only describe as poetic descriptions and little to no dialog between the different characters. The language is beautiful, but rather complex and sometimes it's a lot to process at once. This is definitely a step above Mrs. Dalloway in that regard.(less)
