asked:
The only novel I've read by Virginia Woolf is 'Mrs Dalloway' and, while I liked the story itself and understand why it's a classic, I didn't like the writing at all. It was difficult and tiring to follow and I had to focus on it so much that I couldn't relax and enjoy the story. Is 'Orlando' written in the same way as 'Mrs Dalloway'? If not, how is it different?

Be warned that this is not precisely light reading. It's a dense novel ripe with elevated vocabulary and what I can only describe as poetic descriptions and little to no dialog between the different characters. The language is beautiful, but rather complex and sometimes it's a lot to process at once. This is definitely a step above Mrs. Dalloway in that regard.

I thought that Mrs. Dalloway was a little experimental compared to Orlando. Luis is correct, there is some elevated language in Orlando, however the structure of Orlando is much more traditional, and as such, I found it to be a more casual read. Orlando at least has chapter breaks, something Mrs. Dalloway lacks.

Ye olde pub might sound difficult yet its just an old way say an old fashioned bar.
To be honest i put it away out of frustration or maybe even more, my insecurity of not understanding the language. Now i restarted reading the book but with the first 15 pages using g translate as assist. I found out its just a bit of old language and the meaning catches up with the whole sentence/s. The book has about 250 pages and for me its a slow read. I might say it feels bigger, it could be 500 pages in time of reading but its still worth a lot and im only on page 56 , oh sorry 112 (haha)

No, it's a lightweight frippery of a novel, an airy candyfloss creation of whimsy and wit. However, there is no 'story' as such to follow,

Don't know if you'll see this, but did you end up reading it? What did you think? I'm interested in this book but I'm afraid I might have problems with the writing as well, specially considering I'm not a native english speaker...

The prose is compact but it is so humerous and fresh that I didn't find it hard to read at all
