Goodreads asked Ry Reed:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Ry Reed Honestly, from school, art class really. I was completely bored out of mine sitting there in lecture until we began discussing therianthropy. Never heard the word, but I was intrigued. My professor showed us beautiful paintings and drawings by Les Trois Freses, and my favorite The Kelpie by Herbert James Draper. Its was then that I sparked an idea, began seeing a woodsy world and characters, but I chose to set my dreams aside because I figured that I wasn't a writer. Months passed, and I found myself driving home through a forest path in California. My car breaks down an I'm stuck outside in the cold, listening to the dark snowy world around me. Then bam, I found the place where my characters lived, actually felt like I saw them, the battles in the shadows. I was hooked writing ever since.
