How do you get inspired to write?

Melinda Clayton People watching. Seriously. I'll see a mother pushing a stroller across the street and wonder what her story is. Or I'll see a dad at the park with his young daughter while I'm picking up my own kids from soccer practice. A woman crying on her cellphone, a kid riding a bike....It doesn't take much for my imagination to start filling in the blanks.
