Your Anita Blake was the first urban fantasy I read & I really enjoyed it - at first. Why did you change the direction of the series? The stories went from tense action packed mysteries to erotica, many without any action. "Blood Noir" took place almost completely in a hotel room - just talk & sex - with the last chapter being a synopsis of the action rather than what would have been the focus earlier on.

(view spoiler)[I'll totally disagree with you on, Blood Noir, because I loved finding out Jason's background, meeting his family, and finding out their dark secrets. I enjoyed the political intrigue part of the plot, and the horror elements. There are erotic scenes in the book, yes, but Jason has to visit a hospital and see his father dying of cancer - that is not a book that never leaves the hotel room or is just talk and sex. Jason faced some incredibly hard issues in this book. Anita had to be his emotional support, and it was not a role that came easily to her. They both grew as characters and nearly died in this book. I guess every reader brings their own filter to a book, and you're entitled to your opinion, but I recently reread this book and I still loved it. As the writer it's really hard to reread your own work and not want to change things, so that Blood Noir passed that test is a high bar. (hide spoiler)]

You seemingly base so much of your writing off the events in your real life, that I wonder if Sholto's death coincided with a real tragedy in your life? (After all, you made him a god of Love & Marriage - then immediately killed him?!?!)
I wonder if that is the reason you haven't written about Merry since, considering you have since done 3 Anita books? I hope not, b/c I love Merry (and you!)
