Trisha asked Gena Showalter:

I love your books, my questions are about the White Rabbit Chronicles. 1. Why did you choose to kill Kat ? Why not have her saved by the slayers like Ali was in the second book. 2. In the fourth book there is no mention of Milla losing her memory or getting it back why ? 3. Different series question, when will there be another book in the Original Heartbreakers series? I love that series. Please answer me !!!

Gena Showalter 1. In the White Rabbit Chronicles series, fear is the enemy. It draws zombies and therefore Anima. In other words, what you fear comes upon you. Because of Kat's kidneys, she had always feared death. She tried not to, and even thought she'd conquered it, but the fear manifested in different ways. Namely: thinking Frosty would die before her. She tried to talk him into "staying safe" rather than fighting. In the end, what she feared came upon her.

Plus,Kat's death had the biggest impact on the largest number of characters. Including herself! She wanted to help the slayers, but there was no way to do so as a human. As a spirit, she is finally part of the group. The worst thing to ever happen to her made her stronger :)

2. A mistake on my part, and one I will rectify. I have White Rabbit Chronicles news! I'm happy to say I went back and tripled the length of Kat in Zombieland. It went from 3 short scenes to a full blown novella. I added scenes readers had asked for/wanted (scenes from A Mad Zombie Party that will now be seen through Kat's eyes. And I even wrote the scene where Milla regains her memory.) I don't have an official release date for this/the new material, but will announce as soon as I do. It is my hope this story will lead to more (brand new) stories. I'd like to start with Kat and River and the war in the holding zone. Right now, however, nothing is official :)

3. Yes! Can't Hardly Breathe (Daniel and Dottie's book) comes out in 2017, and it will be followed by Can't Let Go (staring two characters you haven't met yet.)
