Upon rereading Gentleman Jole, I was struck by a simple question: enabling technology is a fine thing, but would you really want to start raising children at your age? And on the topic of reproductive tech, what do you think of Lavie Tidhar's Central Station? It's wonderful to see how different authors take similar premises in very different yet thought-provoking directions.

Would I? No. Would Cordelia? Yes, apparently. Granted she has a longer life expectancy than I do, and probably better current and future health. If I had the anticipated number of years ahead of me that she does, any number of life do-overs could look more attractive.
Haven't read Tidhar, so I can't speak to that.

As a lover of all of your books, I also read most of the books that you recommend as well (and like them very much). I am wondering if you have read these books which I treasure: Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin, and the Master and Commander series by Patrick O’Brian? The first is a complex fantasy; the second may be well outside your area of interest as it concerns the British navy during the Napoleonic Wars .

Wherever you take him, I'm sure I'll enjoy following. The beginning of Penric's Demon just reminded me so strongly of how hard it is for people who know you well to see that you have changed. The two stories also makes me wonder, "Is Desdemona still around during Cazaril's time?" and what would she be like by then?" and what will Foix's demon be like 200 years beyond him, with such an interesting start?"
