What happened to the cat is enigmatic. Perhaps purposefully so. also the future for the couple is undefined as well. perhaps this is a typical style of Japanese writing. The ending certainly leaves one to think and wonder. There are clues, so perhaps readers can envision their own ending for what happened to Chibi.(less)
