Nina Light
Nina Light asked Max China:

Hi Max! My question is: where do you get your inspiration for your characters? The Sister is disconcerting and breathtaking, literally, as in 'I need to stop often and take stock of myself'.

Max China Hi Nina,
Most of the players in my books originate from dreams, nightmares and people-watching. Certain behaviour patterns will attract my interest, (a lone woman crying on a park bench...a man stomping up a garden path with murder in his eyes...), and I'll ask myself, "What's your story?" I usually know straight away if I have someone I can build on.
The Sister grew out of an encounter I had with a woman I'd met in my twenties. She returned to haunt my nights years later, and when she did, I realised I had the bones of a story. Once I had that, the main characters seemed to take on lives of their own.
Thanks for taking an interest and I hope you enjoyed the story.
Max
