The characters often come from people I know although I mix and match names with characters personality traits so no one gets upset with me, lol. For instance, one character has Terri's personality and another has her name. Same for Leigh, Jackie, Rachel, Greg, DJ, Bricker, etc.
As for the story lines, they usually start as a scene. I'll think of a scene and go from there and the story develops naturally, unrolling like a film in my head that my fingers race madly to get onto the computer screen.
