I really liked your characters in Book Scavenger, such as James and Garrison Griswold. Were there any inspiration for your characters from people you know?

Thank you! Many of my characters start with me thinking about people I know in real life, but by the time the story is finished they've grown into their own entity in my mind and often don't seem at all like the person I originally thought of when I started out. James began with me thinking of several classmates from my childhood as well as a few boys in the summer camp program where I was a camp counselor--all smart, funny kids who didn't follow the crowd. And Mr. Griswold was a bit of a mashup of a camp counselor, Willy Wonka, Steve Jobs, and Lawrence Ferlinghetti.
