(view spoiler)[I truly LOVED the graduation speech in Made You Up, and the ending was honestly perfect - I felt hopeful and inspired, especially with the way Alex has grown throughout the book. What do you generally envision Alex & Miles to be doing after the events of the book, and as adults? Like, college/jobs/did they eventually move in together? Any detail would be lovely, because I just feel so invested in these characters. :) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[Ah, that's so great to hear!
While generally I think readers can imagine what they like about the characters' futures after the end of the book, this is one of the questions I always want answered at the end of books, too.
In my idyllic future for them, Alex would have gotten her GED and continued working on going to college, and her and Miles come up with some money-making schemes to help her pay tuition. I think Alex would make a great teacher, so maybe eventually she'd become a history professor somewhere. Miles is good at leading people and finding ways to make money, but he also really loves teaching people. So I always saw two paths for him: either he becomes the head of some company, or he also becomes a professor somewhere.
I just really love the idea of them being professors in different subjects at the same university. Walking across campus on a chilly fall day, talking over course syllabi and getting excited about their research, saying hi to students from their classes when they pass on the sidewalk, visiting Miles's neat and ordered office or Alex's cluttered and cozy one.
And yeah, they'd totally live together. (hide spoiler)]

I just finished "Eliza and Her Monsters" a few minutes ago. I thought it was lovely, and likely one of the most honest portrayals of depression in the creative mind of a young adult. Okay, I should probably ask a question: what kind of music do you like to listen to when you write? And if I may be so bold as to ask: where did you come up with the idea for Eliza?
