I just finished "Eliza and Her Monsters" a few minutes ago. I thought it was lovely, and likely one of the most honest portrayals of depression in the creative mind of a young adult. Okay, I should probably ask a question: what kind of music do you like to listen to when you write? And if I may be so bold as to ask: where did you come up with the idea for Eliza?
Francesca Zappia
Thank you so much! The music I listen to depends on which book I'm working on. Eliza actually didn't have much music. Made You Up was a lot of indie, 90's, and German pop music. Monstrous Sea is all sorts of things. And I think all my playlists for my books can be found through my Spotify profile.
The idea for the book or the character? They're kind of the same anyway—they're mostly my own experiences creating things and having anxiety.

First of all, I love loved loved! Made you up. It was one of my all time faves. However, I am just slightly confused as to what was real and what wasn't. Was everything just in Alex's head? Did any of her adventures actually happen, was miles real?
Thanks heaps!
