Mark Lawrence:
How did you decide on your titles and covers for you books? The popular saying goes that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but that is exactly what I do when looking for a book. That's how I picked up Prince of Thorns. The titles for the Broken Empire obviously relate to the story, but did you think of the title before or after you wrote the first draft? Were you originally going to call it something else?

I read Prince of Fools first and loved it so much that I found my way back to the Broken Empire series and have just finished book two. Is there a series before this one in which you describe more about what happened to the world and how it got how we see it in these books? I know there are little details here and there in the books but just curious...

The way you write about maountains and climbing ring very true to me. As an alpinist and rock climber, I think it had to come from real experience. I have used several quotes from your books on the subject. I would just like to know if it is something you have personal experience with, because you cover the essence of it very well. Does it come from first hand experience?
