Nirkatze Subtle, as in, there is no dating period, they are just together and accept it? And there is no talk of relationship status or do-you-love-me or anything like that? There's a lot of physical going on with them though.

The second book of Dreamblood, by N.K. Jemisin maybe. I would almost second Mistborn, except it is the opposite--almost no physical but a lot of mental worrying. Romance does not take center stage though, in either.
George You call that "subtle"? If by that you mean it doesn't have the stupid excesses of a romance novel, okay!
