Goodreads asked Brandon Boyce:

How do you get inspired to write?

Brandon Boyce Inspiration is great, but as Stephen King says, most of us just get on with the work. If writers only waited for inspiration to strike, books would never get finished. Oftentimes, the greatest moments of inspiration come from the act of writing itself. Start writing and good things will happen. But there are times when I need to mix things up, to get out of the office and get things flowing. A long, hard bike ride or a run can sometimes solve a story point or give birth to a new idea. An air travel, for some reason. Something about sitting captive for 3-4 hours unlocks creativity. If all else fails, going to bed before I'm totally exhausted. Putting my head down on the pillow with eyes closed has yielded some of the best ideas I've ever had--enough to get me out of bed to write them down before they slip away again.
