I'm a young writer entering my second year of college this fall with dreams of becoming an author. I was wondering what advice you would give to people writing a book for the first time?

Hi there! Yay, young writers! Yay, writers in college!
Advice for people writing a book for the *first* time? That's easy--have fun. Write something that you like. Write something that makes you happy. I started writing a long time before I knew anything about the publishing world or trends or anything like that, and I think it really helped because the only expectations and pressures I had were my own.
Don't worry about what people tell you that you should write. Don't worry about what's being published. Write because you love it and because it makes you happy. The first book is a big milestone, and you don't want to get burnt out on writing before you ever begin.
Good luck!

I truly LOVED the graduation speech in Made You Up, and the ending was honestly perfect - I felt hopeful and inspired, especially with the way Alex has grown throughout the book. What do you generally envision Alex & Miles to be doing after the events of the book, and as adults? Like, college/jobs/did they eventually move in together? Any detail would be lovely, because I just feel so invested in these characters. :)

Hey! Made You Up is one of the best books I have ever read on mental illnesses and I am very interested in them but it is hard to find good books that really tell you about them to show what it is like. You did a very good job on the whole book. I have two questions for you! How long did it take you to write it? Where did you come up with the idea?
