I have listened to many of the Prey book and Richard Ferone has become the voice of Lucas to me. I think he does a v good job of it. If author changed narrators I fear I would become disoriented.
Scott
I think the narrator is the same one that has done a majority of the "Prey" books. Richard Ferone I think. I don't have any issues with his narration. Maybe I am just used to it but I think he is pretty good.
Kerri
As Scott said, this narrator has done a lot of the Prey books. I like him for this series and his voice suits Lucas's character well.
Bill
As with Debra, Richard Ferone is Lucas Davenport for me too. I think he is a great narrator, and at this point, another narrator would disappoint me.
Colleen
I have to assume your friend hasn't listened to any of the other books in this series. Richard Ferrone is a great narrator, perfectly suited to this series. I would encourage her to have another go.
Elliza
So not true! The narrator is the same as for all the other Prey books - the inimitable Richard Ferrone, who could make a phone book interesting!
Brentic Westray
Richard front has done all of them I feel he does a stellar job. Your friend might just not like his voice

Just finishing...and this is my first Sandford. I didn't care for the narrator at first, but he really grew on me and I enjoyed his work here.
Kyla Zerbes
I like the narrator so much that I only listen to these books. They're unabridged so I haven't read the series in about 10 years.
Kathy
I just listened to the narrator for the first time. I really enjoyed listening to him.

Richard Ferrone has done, if not all, then almost all of the fantastic Prey series, and is one of the best there is. Your friend may have been turned off by the story, as this series can be "dark," but the narrator is one of my all-time favorites on a short list including Tony Roberts as Stone Barrington, Dino Bachetti, etc., the late Frank Muller, who had a most unique and captivating style; and Lorelei King whose voice stylings on the Stephanie Plum series is oftentimes far more entertaining than the story itself.
Roz
I "LOVE" Richard Ferone's voice. I have listened to the entire prey series and the gruffness and raspyness is just great for me. He changes for different characters and has stayed the same: Dell, Weather, Jenkins, Letty, Rose Marie, etc. He is Lucas for me.
Lisa Scottoline used Barbara Rosenblat for her Mary DeNunzio books and changed. I was devastated but am now getting use to her current narrator. The narrator makes the book.

This is one of the best narrators I have listened to. He has done the Prey series for years and he captures the tone and mood that Sandford is looking for. He has done a tremendous job on voice acting and I think that your friend is flat out wrong. Of course it varies from listener to listener and if your friend does not like the audiobook, then he/she can read the physical book and enjoy the well written/plot of Extreme Prey. I hope this helps. One last thing, Richard Ferrone (audio book narrator) sounds a little like the narrator from forensic files - which I love.
