Goodreads asked Pamela Schloesser Canepa:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Pamela Schloesser Canepa Sometimes, all you have is the glimmer of an idea. Run with it. Write it down before it is lost. Soon, there will be flesh on the bones. Sometimes the different parts will jump into your head when you least expect. This probably goes against everything most writers advise about planning and outlining, but sometimes, it's the best way to let the inspiration flow. I am finding that I'll get a lovely lump of a story on paper, then have to reign it into line. What I am saying is that it's okay to start writing even if you don't know where it's going. You can figure that out later; just get your idea on paper before someone else does. There is no formula for inspiration, and that is where it all starts.
