Thank you for your amazing characters and stories! I haven't been as taken with a story for ages as I was with Just One Damned Thing .. <3 I started to question my own assumption that this was set in the near future. You mention riots and the "Battersea Barricades" and the US "closing their borders" made me think this was set in a future post-system-collapse world with a deliberately vague date? Am I wrong?

Hi Lotta. No, you're not wrong. I wanted to set the series in a recognisable world so I went for a 'Not quite here - not quite now' background. I spend so much time looking at the past that I found it very enjoyable to create a fictional future. Thank you for writing - I'm so glad you enjoy the books. Jodi.

A huge "Thank you!" for keeping me sane ;-) I discovered your books thanks to a recommendation on Facebook (on great time travel books - Dr Bairstow would be horrified!). I am now on book 7 and they have given me something to look forward to and also something wonderful to escape to during this VERY WEIRD time. Hi! 1st, when I read a St. Mary's book on an airplane, people around me want to know what I am reading - I laugh so loud. Your books are the funniest and most original (plot-wise & even more so turn-of-phrases-wise) I have ever read. What I'd like to know, is what similarities and differences exist between you and Max. I should think you like chocolate and tea, and are rebellious? But do you Paint? Anything else?
