This book sounds a lot like How Opal Mehta Got Kissed, Got Wild, and Got a Life. Anyone else agree?

Adwoa I think this was done on purpose---"How Opal Mehta got kissed..." was written by a over-achieving Indian-american woman, who also went to a top tier, competitive high school, and wrote it before (as well as during) her entry into Harvard, and was then very publicly dragged for plagiarism. If I had to take a guess, I would say this book is inspired more by the author of "How Opal Mehta got Kissed" then the actual book itself.
Sreeja I agree, the book reminded me of the Opal Mehta book and about the author, Kavya Viswanathan . It seems like Reshma is a mix of both Opal and Kavya.
Carol M I was trying to remember what this book reminded me of. This is kind of meta as it references the plagiarism bit. Reshma is not a particularly likable character but she seems a little more real than Opal
Jessie I just read the description and thought the exact same thing - which is funny, considering it turned out that book had a lot of plagiarism in it (I still thought it was a pretty good story though)
