Pam asked Isabel Allende:

Do you review the translations of your books? If so, do they ever get your intent wrong?

Isabel Allende I check the English translation and usually I work closely with the translator. The hardest things to convey in another language are humor and irony.
My books are translated to 35 languages; it is impossible for me to know if the subtleties are conveyed, but I trust that the story is interesting enough to withstand a not so good translation.
