Goodreads asked Marie Bostwick:

How do you get inspired to write?

Marie Bostwick This is a question I get asked frequently. I think most authors do. I was visiting with my friend, Debbie Macomber, this week and someone asked her this question. Her answer? "Two house payments."

Very funny but also true. Writing is how writers pay the rent and put food in the refrigerator. Fortunately, I love what I do so going to work every day (6 days a week) is no hardship for me. Really, anyone who can make a living as an artist is so lucky.

Even so, there are days when I don't feel like going to work, just like everybody else. And, just like everybody else, when that happens I get up and go to work anyway. Even if I'm not feeling especially inspired that day, once I start working, the inspiration comes.
