Where did you get the idea for your book "The First Days" ? I am currently reading it and love it so far.

It was inspired by my travels across Texas for my old job. I just loved meeting so many different people and seeing the inner workings of the various city halls in small towns. Also, I have a great admiration for Texas women from all different backgrounds.
Jenni and Katie pretty much popped into my head fully formed and ready to go. I was very excited to write about female friendship in the zombie apocalypse. I love both characters dearly, despite what I put them through.
