Rhiannon Frater I missed this question because I haven't been on Goodreads in such a long time.

For the last few years I have been dealing with health issues and I am finally doing well in my recovery. I plan to continue writing several of my series and write some standalone novels.

I'm so happy you enjoyed Dead Spots. It scared me when I was writing it!
Rhiannon Frater At this time, I don't plan to write a 4th book. The series doesn't earn enough to justify writing another. I love the series and the characters. I wish more adults gave it a shot.
Rhiannon Frater I am working on that novel now. I had health issues that needed to be dealt with in 2021. I'm just now getting back on track.
Rhiannon Frater The series (so far):
The First Days (book 1)
Fighting to Survive (book 2)
A Very Fort Christmas (ATWD novella)
Siege (book 3)
The Untold Tales (short story/novella compilation)
After Siege (book 4)

And I'm working The Last Days, a novel set in the final days of modern society centered on Ashley Oaks & Austin. At this point, it's a Patreon exclusive.
Rhiannon Frater Honestly, probably the world in one of my forthcoming books. It's sci-fi and I loved delving into the tech. It would be fun to be an enhanced human and have lots of fun gadgets at my disposal.
Rhiannon Frater I am reading Three Dark Crowns per my agent's recommendation. She gave me a reading list to acquaint myself with some of her fav YA series.
Rhiannon Frater Alas, my life is really, really boring, so the answer is none. There isn't a mystery in my life that would make a great plot. Also, I would not make a good character in a book.

I'm much better suited as the creator of mysteries and characters.
Rhiannon Frater If you're asking about the books I've written, I have to say Armando and Vanora from In Darkness We Must Abide. They just shred me. Everything about their relationship is so complicated and wrought with emotion. They go through so much together and apart, and I wanted them to have a HEA. I just didn't know if it was going to pan out. Also, Armando is my favorite male character of all I've written, so I'm inclined to lean toward this coupling.

When it comes to books written by others, that's supereasy. Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester. Jane Eyre, the novel, is my absolute favorite book of all time. Though I don't think Edward is ever good enough for Jane, her complete love for him touches my soul. I do believe she elevates the man not just through her love, but her intelligence and strength. The sweetness of their reunion just kills me every single time I read the book.
Rhiannon Frater Honestly, it's very dependent on your genre. I bought tables at horror conventions to promote my self-published books when I first started out. I also hired blog tour hosts to help promote my books. I wrote guest posts on other authors blogs in the genre. In the last couple of years, I've discovered that advertising through places like BookSends and BookBub are very helpful. I also make sure I'm accessible through my website and social media.
Rhiannon Frater This is a complicated question to answer because there are several factors at play.

1. I plan to retool the serial into a trilogy with all new titles, interior layout, etc, and probably some slight tweaking (additional copyedits).

2. I plan to relaunch the revamped books this year, but not exactly sure when.

3. Production of audio books is very, very expensive. I would have to hope for a royalty share deal from a good narrator, but there's no assurance of that. I may have to wait to see if I get get sales up in the other formats to attract a good one.

I hope to one day have them in audiobook format, but we'll see.

So there's your complicated answer!
Rhiannon Frater I would love to have all my books made into films or television shows, but whether or not that happens is not up to me. That's up to the powers that be in Hollywood.
Rhiannon Frater It was inspired by my travels across Texas for my old job. I just loved meeting so many different people and seeing the inner workings of the various city halls in small towns. Also, I have a great admiration for Texas women from all different backgrounds.

Jenni and Katie pretty much popped into my head fully formed and ready to go. I was very excited to write about female friendship in the zombie apocalypse. I love both characters dearly, despite what I put them through.
Rhiannon Frater After The Lament of the Vampire Bride, I will be working on a book for my agent to pitch to publishers. Then I will write the sequel to The Living Dead Boy followed by the third book in the The Last Bastion series.

Dead Spots is a standalone. I feel Mackenzie's story came to a satisfying end. I can't imagine writing in that world again in a way that wouldn't be a repetition of the first book. If I came up with an idea that felt fresh, I'd consider it. But there won't be another book with Mackenzie in it.
Rhiannon Frater I was at my old day job when I had a moment of inspiration. Those tiny fingers under the door! So during my break I wrote what I thought was a short story. It's the very first scene in the book, by the way. I posted it online and people who read it asked "Where's the rest?" Like a scene out of the Matrix, in that moment the rest of the story "downloaded" into my brain. So for two years I wrote the story online. Later, I self-published it. Tor picked it up in 2010 and I revised it for the reissue.

So where did I get the idea?

I was heavily influenced by traveling across Texas and meeting all sorts of interesting people in the small towns. I was a governmental consultant on a federal grant, so I interacted a lot with the city officials of these tiny towns and interviewed their residents. I'm sure all of that mushed together in my imagination and gave birth to the story.

I don't plot my books. I just write what I see on the movie screen in my head. I'm sure my muse is just a collection of information I've absorbed over time, or maybe it's more mystical than that. I don't know.

In a way, I feel like Jenni and Katie found me, and I was the lucky writer who got to tell their story.
Rhiannon Frater All writers are weird in my honest opinion. We have vast imaginary worlds living in our heads. Because horror writers write about the darker aspect of the human experience, or about humanity's fears, we're seen as being weirder. We're definitely outside what society considers normal. Yet, all those "normal" people read our books.

Honestly, I get more grief for being a woman writing horror than actually for being a horror writer. At this point, I just do what I love and ignore the naysayers.

Besides, my philosophy of life is everyday is Halloween. :)
Rhiannon Frater Bryan, I'm not sure why you're finding them difficult to locate. I've had plenty of fans send me photos of books on the shelves of bookstores. Now, if you're talking about my self-published titles, you won't find them in bookstores unless the store special orders them. I know a few bookstores do carry my self-published works.

All my books are available in paperback via online retailers. I only sell ebooks via Kindle, and you can download a Kindle app if you don't have a Kindle.

You can also order autographed copies of my books at my etsy store. https://www.etsy.com/shop/RhiannonFrater

I don't have any plans to do any book signings or conventions next year. I have a pretty hefty writing schedule. But if I'm invited, I'll definitely consider it! So glad you enjoyed the As The World Dies trilogy!
Rhiannon Frater It depends where I am when it happens. If I'm at home in Texas, I'll be fine and last a long time. We've got guns here. If I'm elsewhere, I'll be part of the zombie horde pretty quickly.
Rhiannon Frater This is definitely a trick question. No matter who I choose, I'm so going to get eaten. LOL. I might have a chance against a vampire if I bring a crucifix and a stake, so I'll go with the fanged one.
